| Information | Völkl`s fifth generation Mantra (Model 5) is a revolutionary modern freeride ski with carved Titanal on the top, so-called "Titanal Frame" to i.a. give the ski a more fun behavior than previous generations. The titanal frame is located in front of and behind the binding zone, respectively, and lowers the swing weight together with the wood core being replaced with carbon fiber at the front. The weight loss is not to suit Touring foxes - only to reduce the negative vibrations that all tip-rocker profiles give at high speeds and to increase playfulness. The total weight loss of -70 grams per ski means that the M5 still weighs in at a stiff 2kg, but Völkl still wants a full layer of Titanal underneath for pure performance reasons. The new high-tech candy "Titanal Frame" and "Carbon tip" together with the new tip-tail rocker profile, a new shorter side cut and a careful taper in the front and back of the first ski that never protests with cuts and choppy tracks in the piste when the rider gives the wrong angles and pressure between cutting and skidding turns! Absolutely amazing what these five features (and 11 other adjustments) as well as three years of development and countless test pairs can do for us imperfect humans. |
