Black Diamond JetForce Pro 25L
Brand: Black Diamond
Model year: 2025
Manufacturers description
After last winter's nice updates, the model is called "Pro" which, among other things, received a bluetooth update of the software, just like their tranceivers. The location of the balloon has been refined so that the packing volume has improved, a new crotch strap with quick coupling and convenient storage when not in use. Pro model has also received an updated volume system, this bag is 25L, but it is possible to buy "Boosters" so that the current bag will be either 10L or 35L. You zip off the existing bag and replace it with a smaller or larger one according to what suits today's adventure. These "Boosters" sell separately. Model has also been lightened with 500gr, so now the competition for the market's best all-round avalanche bag is intensifying for winter ... JetForce Pro is clearly a given friend on the adventure and is considered by many experts to be the most complete avalanche sack with really good safety thinking.

Strengths:
Carefully crafted avalanche backpack:

- 200L, fills up with air at regular intervals for 3 min and releases after 3m. Better than others?
- Good to be able to practice without buying a new tube/tubes.
- Big plus with boosters of 15, 25 and 35 and that boosters are light.
- Comfortable: Forgets I'm wearing it when I ride.
- Stable and comfortable even with skis on your back.
- Easier to fly with?
- The 15L version is perfect if you only need avalanche equipment, skins and water.

Weaknesses:
Most of the weaknesses are associated with rough materials and 200L balloon:

- The balloon + battery takes up a lot of space in the back.
- Heavy packed. Slightly crooked compartments. The 25L version is a bit tight if you need to pack skins, camera, water bottle, extra gloves and approx. 500g down jacket. Works for packing before a summit trip, but more difficult at the top when you have to change and when it's cold and windy.
- The lift cage/seat lift works without removing if you have minimal packing but on the limit.
- The shoulder straps have a sewn fold on the strap (type of mechanical stop) -> cannot expand enough and therefore do not have room to throw the skis behind the shoulder strap.
- It is not possible to attach the skis to the A-frame due to the function of the airbag.

Summary:
Purchased late 2023. It takes writing a review after only a few days of use but so few reviews on avalanche bags so I'll do it anyway. Long research before purchase. Considered the other electric sacks and talked to industry professionals and users. The choice fell on this one because of the fewest (?) quality problems and felt the safest back. Not sure I'll keep the bag. Would like a bag that feels smoother and lighter. Alva Reactor 15 UL is about 1700g lighter. Then mammut has some variants where the back can be opened with a zipper, which feels smooth.
