Strengths:
reliable, strong, enormous volume if needed, comfortable, flexible external mounting system.

Weaknesses:
not waterproof, barely waterrepellant, with side bags to wide to pass trough train/bus doors, pretty heavy

Summary:
Used this backpack since 2001, never got any problems with it. It rainy Scotland it's lack of any resistance to rain became apparent. Travelled a round in 2007-2008 so backpack was loaded/unloaded every day, in busses, trucks, planes, traines, ... Used it as a matress in Italian night trains. I guess it is almost indestructable.

In the back there are two aluminum frames that form the frame, they have sufficiënt flex to be barely noticable (=good), the hip belt is great and lets you carry the weight on your hips. In most circumstances the maximum volume is way to large and the external straps are used to reduce the volume.

It's a backpack from another era (rather heavy, all sewed, ...) but it will probably survive many modern ones.

Strengths:
Durable, fits well on wider backs, well thought out bag easily packed for longer trips. In my opinion a cozy and safe bag.

Weaknesses:
Slightly heavy. After many years of use, the waterproof coating on the inside of the bag is peeling off. The buckle on the shoulder belt slides up so you have to tighten it most of the time. Also the buckles on the straps that hold the side pockets slide up.

Summary:
A faithful friend on my many and long hikes. The weaknesses with the buckles are easily fixed yourself. The fact that the backpack is not waterproof can be solved with a rain cover on the bag or to pack in a black bag in the bag.

Strengths:
+ stable
+ durable

Weaknesses:
+ high weight

Summary:
I have had this bag for seven years now and it has been a good deal.

It has two side pockets that can be removed which reduces the pack volume by about 10 liters. However, it is preferable to ride on skis in order not to limit the range of motion. The top cover has an outer and an inner compartment. In the "bottom" of the top lid there is a strap for tightening a bed or the like. Furthermore, there are a number of attachment points outside the bag. The fabric is durable and is resistant to a lot of moisture.

It is possible to adjust the carrier system well, even though the bag feels relatively big on me under all conditions. The backpack is very stable and reliable under varying conditions.
