POC Obex BC Mips
Brand: POCManufacturers description
(Obex BC Mips är Backcountry-versionen av vanliga Obex Mips)
The ski helmet that can speak for you when you can’t. The Obex BC Mips is designed for enhanced traceability and durability in the backcountry. Updated this year to include Mips, the helmet features an NFC medical ID chip so rescuers can access vital medical information at the scene of an injury, helping them make the best judgments for treatment in the vital “golden hour” immediately after an accident. A RECCO® reflector enhances searchability. A thicker polycarbonate shell compared to the Obex Mips gives greater durability. The helmet is compatible with the Obex Communication headset and is designed for a seamless fit with POC goggles. Fully adjustable ventilation and removable ear pads ensure user comfort.

Strengths:
good fit, reccon ,
Weaknesses:
no real inner padding therefore quite drafty and quickly cold on the head especially with back wind
Summary:
all in all expandable, should have better upholstery is actually only for nice days therefore too expensive

Strengths:
Light and ventilated
Weaknesses:
Small selection of sizes
Summary:
Just like some other helmets from POC, the Obex MIPS is available in a BC version, where BC stands for Back Country. The BC model has a thicker shell for better durability. It is also equipped with a Recco reflector and an NFC chip that can be scanned to receive medical information and emergency contact information for the helmet wearer. I have tried entering the information and it went smoothly via the TwICEme app.
The padding inside is quite thin and doesn't feel very forgiving so the helmet should probably fit your head well for good comfort - there are no spongy pads inside to compensate. The size is adjusted by turning a wheel on the back and it closes evenly around the entire head. On the top of the helmet is a control for ventilation that allows you to have the ventilation fully open, halfway or fully closed. On the back there is a small rubber cord and a hook to ensure that the goggle strap stays on. So far it works well, but I'm a little doubtful about the durability of the cord.
I think the big miss with this helmet is the sizes. It is only available in 3 sizes: XS-S, M-L and XL-XXL. These represent 51-54, 55-58 and 59-62 cm head circumference. I myself have a head circumference of 58 cm and have therefore ended up right on the limit of one size. M-L felt tight on me and I therefore ordered XL-XXL. Instead, it felt huge and I ended up driving M-L and have it on the largest setting, it works ok but feels a bit small. It would have been better to have sizes that overlap, like M-L = 55-59 and L-XL = 57-62 etc.
A slightly strange thing that I noticed compared to my old helmet is that this one is noticeably shorter down the neck. I think it could have gone further down for a more enveloping feeling.
In summary, I am very satisfied with the helmet, it is nice and above all very light compared to my old one.
