Strengths:
Comfort
Fit
water repellency
breathability
windproofness
Ventilation
sustainability
Weaknesses:
Absence of snowfall at the end of the sleeve
Summary:
Have used this jacket for one and a half season and am very pleased with it. It has been buried in snow, wind and rain, windy days and windy days, in the piste, offpiste and on trips as well as in all temperatures from -20 to some plus degrees.
I usually find it hard to find a jacket that is not too tight over my shoulders, but this is like being cast to me. It's easy to move around and does not shave anywhere. Luvan is excellent, there are enough pockets and it's nice. I have it in orange.
What makes me happy with the jacket is its water repellent, windproofness, breathability and ventilation. As I have written above, it has been used in all possible circumstances. Despite rain for a full afternoon (not drizzle), it kept me dry. In strong winds on Kalfjäll, it keeps me warm. During longer peak trips in plus and minus degrees I feel that the jacket breathes well. You get sweaty, but this depends more on the activity than the jacket's breathability would be bad. In addition, it is possible to open the jacket properly with long zippers on the sides for additional ventilation.
The snow cover in the waist is good and keeps the snow away without any problems. The durability is more than approved. I often go to the woods where you go into twigs and bushes and I can also admit that I met a tree. Nevertheless, the jacket has not been torn up in any place. On the other hand, there may be some discoloration of such treatment. I have also washed the jacket several times and have not noticed that it will have lost its characteristics.
On the neck side, I have to lift the lack of snow cover at the end of the sleeve. Now the jacket can be tightened properly in the cuffs and if you need to cover a bit over the wrists, this is not a giant problem. But on better days of cushioning (and especially if you go deep in the snow) I have on several occasions taken snow in my sleeves, which has been annoying. Does not feel like this should be a major cost to the manufacturer.
The jacket is definitely worth the $ 3500 I paid for it. Really value for money! Good job, Haglöfs!
