Strengths:
Ortovox quality as well as weight and performance
For years, Ortovox Lavin used products and never been disappointed.
Have had Ortovox Pro in Lexanplast but changed quickly after an incident.
Lexan plastic and welding cloths do not mix together and the blade is deformed.

Weaknesses:
The price may be somewhat high if you look at the equivalent of other brands.

Summary:
Ortovox quality, weight and performance.
Buy Ortovox if you want a product that lasts for years

This is a really good shovel, has had my for a few years now and never had any problems with it. It's okay and easy to work with, ie build a kicker, snow highs, snowshoes, hack clean icebergs, etc etc ..... Really good and affordable shovel if compared to other Voile and BD spades that I think feels a bit too osmid because the blades are not as "sharp" as this spade. Highest rating from me with!

I first bought a Black Diamond spade for 850: - But was not really pleased with the rough design that felt a little bit creepy. So I switched to a Ortovox. Ortovox pro alu was a hundred more expensive but it was worth it. It has a really good rugged and durable design that is nice to look at. The shaft is quite narrow and nice to wear gloves on. There are cheaper models with plastic sheets that say crack when it gets cold and hard but the alubladet is stool for everything! Highest rating!
