The design makes the skull get evener pressure around the foot than is the case with an overlap shoe. The three-part construction also allows the bucket volume to be adjusted even to a slightly higher ankle. The special design makes you feel the pants as more compelling than an overlap with the same flex. The flex is more progressive than is the case with many other boots.
