Tecnica Mach1 LV 130 TD
Brand: TecnicaModel year: 2022
Flex: 130
Last size: 98 mm
Manufacturers description
Mach1 LV 130 is a high-performance ski boot for alpine skiers who need low volume and hard flex. The boot has an exact fit with 98 mm read for narrow feet / low volume and optimal individual adaptation. With Tecnicas C.A.S. system, the shape of the boot can be adjusted individually to the shape of the foot. The asymmetrical construction of the shell has varying thicknesses and structures in the boot's inner shoes that provide increased lateral force transmission, increased edge grip and faster and more controlled transition from edge to edge. The boot is developed by Tecnica's Italian design team together with an international collaboration called Project 165.

Strengths:
+ Rigid for good power transmission.
+ LV (Low Volume) makes the boot lighter and fits slimmer feet.
+ The power strap is wide and loaded evenly
Weaknesses:
- Creaks a lot already after one season.
- Rock-hard shaft makes them worse to walk in (however better for the slopes!).
- LV also makes it more difficult to take off and on the boot (to the extent that it hurts when both tongue and foot have to be pushed in and out of the plastic joint in the ankle).
- Loses stiffness on warmer days.
Summary:
If you like to stand on the piste and get back all the power you put into the turns, this boot is for you!
The 130 model of the Mach1 feels really stiff, not like an over-branded 110 flex, in the right conditions. The flex doesn't last on warmer days, but softens quite a lot (don't know if newer models hold up better with new plastic). However, the LV model doesn't give up too much leeway when it's warm (remains well even during the warm-up, despite being a bit soft).
If you don't have a foot that is on the narrower side, you shouldn't give this boot a thought either. The LV model is noticeably narrower than the regular MV model, both in foot comfort but also in how it feels on the outside. The slightly more painful last gives the boot more of a racing feel without being too hard molded, which means that you can stay in the boot all day for a week straight without getting too tired in your feet.
The original sole in the boot can be advantageously replaced with one with more support as it is both flat and soft, which gives little to no support for those with reasonably cupped arches.
Overall a good boot with stiffness that suits hard piste slopes below zero!
