Atomic Redster G9

Atomic Redster G9
Category: Piste
Brand: Atomic
Manufacturers description
The Redster G9 is the supercharged sports car of the Atomic Redster range, packed with World Cup approved race tech. And this year the big news is we’ve literally given it power steering! The secret is the new pre-stressed Servotec rod and elastomer on the top, which supports the ski’s steering behavior at all speeds. So steering is more agile in low-speed turns then more stable on fast straights. Giving you the agility and stability you need to keep your foot down – on the race course and on piste.

Strengths:
Stability grip power

Weaknesses:
None

Summary:
Best piste ski I have ever skied on by a country mile. The only thing remotely close is the glorious S9 but of course, that’s a very different animal. The grip is unbelievable. You just never worry about washing out or hardpack or anything. Carving is a joy. I was on some all mountains recently and switched to my G9s. It was like taking off the condom 😉

Strengths:
Stability, dampness, it’s ability to hold an edge and carve on ice without the tip breaking loose is one of its greatest strengths.

Weaknesses:
Forgiveness, it is too stiff for big moguls unless you cut a very fine line. If you find yourself in a steep mogul field with deep moguls you’ll need to be careful navigating your way down. If you punch a ski tip into a mogul it will not be forgiving.

Summary:
I love these skis for on piste terrain. They are quick and snappy edge to edge and carve well. Where other skis will break loose, with these you can ski over a patch of ice in a carved turn and think, “Oh, there went a patch of ice.” If you like a quick, fast ski that is predictable, you’ll love these. If you are an intermediate and don’t know how to truly carve your turns then forget about it.

Model year: 2020
Riding style: With these, on piste.
Length on the ski: 171 cm
Riders weight: 127 kg

Strengths:
A ski that does what you want. It is made for hard rides in high speeds, but also tolerates playful cruising in lighter downhill runs. Put it on the edge and experience servotec stable little go-cart feeling actually, lean in and enjoy !!!

Weaknesses:
I have pushed the ski properly and cannot really find anything weak. Someone had commented on poor grip in the steep slopes, it feels like technology or unkempt edges. These are kept as a samurai host of course :-)

Summary:
Piste races when it is at its best, simply quick and fast. However, requires a strong and experienced skier to take advantage of what the ski offers.
