Manufacturers description
Light enough to dominate the skin track, girthy and rockered enough to have ridiculous amounts of fun on the way down: the Convert hits the sweet spot for a surfy, solid backcountry ski.
A light, semi-fat, rockered powder ski engineered with touring efficiency in mind, the Black Diamond Convert is solid and surfy in deep snow, while its 105 mm waist lends confidence when conditions turn variable. Whether it’s a quick hit out the resort’s backcountry gates or an objective hours from the trailhead, the Convert will get you there with minimal uphill effort.
Versatile 105 mm waist with Rocker tip and tail
More touring efficiency than the Carbon Megawatt with better soft snow performance than the Revert
Formula One 3D Light Sandwich with pre-preg composite construction and paulownia wood core.
5 mm beveled ABS sidewall with Power Edges
SkinLock tail tabs
Optimal use: 80% soft snow / 20% hard snow

Strengths:
Very easy to use with a little care. They are at their best when it is mostly new snow but some snow that has been there for a while. Easy to carve with if you do not have slalom skis standard. Easy to do tricks with in the air like cossack shifty or grabs. Pretty perfect balance between stiff and flexible (NB I'm no expert on ski flex so don't take that as how the skis flex because to be honest I have no idea)
Weaknesses:
Less good to use as in piste where you obviously can't turn of course, but if you're like me and ride in the woods, get out on the piste, turn a little until you get down to the lift, they work perfectly. Not ideal for doing tricks like 360 and up but 180 on rail kicks works fine.
Summary:
They are best in the forest where there is new snow but some old snow but with the consequence of not being as good in the park
Riding style: Powder, hike, little park
Length on the ski: 172 cm
Riders weight: 55 kg
Riders length: 165 cm
