The Piton is the result of our quest to make a backcountry specific design that sheds weight

Strengths:
Slightly slender in the piste, amazing flow in pads despite the 94 waist thanks to a fat rock top. Fantastic ice cubes, twisty.
Best touring trip I've tried since my old DrakeBoinay Surreal ...
Weaknesses:
At first, I thought that the backside threw a little bit and there in the piste when you did not drive aggressively, then I realized that it was the combination of a span that extends unusually far behind and very sharp edges. A tuning question, therefore. I made a de-tune of steel edge 2cm at the back and then I could go without thinking of the skis. (New Piton has a fairer span and a bit softer flex and this "weakness" will not be left)
Summary:
Fun skiing! I have run it with NTN and Garmont Prophet.
It feels like a big-skull in the piste, easy, fast, stable. The 19m radius fits the Nordic conditions very well. Solid ice cube, due to a twisted construction with a lot of carbon fiber. I've driven it in 20-30cm fluff with deeper drives. The top never pops for a second, it's just getting on. In 10cm pillows on top of hard crowd, it is amazing. On the other hand, the top is quite fat and round and stiff so that the top can pull a bit when you swing harder in lack of crowds compared to some softer skis with a prettier top. Here you get a little in the choice between flow in pillows and calm time in very hard snow and you have prioritized powder properties. But I drove a crowded crowd for a whole day without jamming, diving or trolling once, which risks a traditional ski without rocker. If you want to have a fat rock top, you probably have to take that (small) bang that it may pop when it floats on the pitch.
My skiing is an early version and differs slightly from today's Piton, which is softer with more traditional spans. I suppose the new one is a little more forgiving in the pist without the detune of the edge. As a mountain hike in Nordic conditions, Piton is the clock, or for the one who runs the piste and sometimes wants a bit of sneezing. The rock peak does not flutter for a second. The higher span that I have on my skis makes it easy to glide with studs.
Compared to Howitzer, Piton performs better at low speeds, even in heavier loops. In really hard snow, the Howitzer can feel calmer at high speed, because the top / rocker and the span are all less pronounced. If you want to lie and drive tighter carvings in the piste, you might want to look at Ullr's Chariot instead, but as a mountain skis in Sweden, Piton is perfect. Especially if you want a top trip. I have not tried deeper pillows.
I have paid for my Piton but have some cooperation with SkiLogik.
