Strengths:
Affordable to Japan. Also flies on behalf of Japan Airlines. Nothing negative to say about the flight crew itself, but read below.
Weaknesses:
Third time to Japan with Finnair. They lost all luggage in Helsinki, that can happen. Then the disaster began, no contact whatsoever with Finnair despite email / website / phone from Asahikawa. After 3 days they found 1/3 of the luggage, then it took 6 days before everything arrived in Japan's coldest city. Incredibly frustrating with the absence of contact, calls from the company. When complaining at home, it took 9 weeks (due to long queue!!) before you got 1,500: - A complete mockery and total failure in dealing with the luggage issue meant that 1/2 the ski trip was lost. Never again Finnair due to non-existent support.
Summary:
Lesson: Always carry ski clothes in your hand luggage and ski boots in the cabin, everything else can be rented/fixed.
Avoid quick airport changes / transfers for 2-3 hours per airport, if the plane is delayed, there is a great risk that the luggage will not be able to keep up, which is guaranteed to result in very big problems.
Would book the direct flight with ANA to Tokyo even if it costs a little more, alt. Japan Arlines directly.
The Japanese are incredibly careful and helpful. Love!
