A beautiful alpine village with lovely fresh alpine air and proximity to untouched nature.

Charming town but limited skiing. The resort is beautiful, and easy to get to from eg Munich Airport. However, skiing is rather limited if you are still going to the Alps, with the highest ride of about 2000 meters. A beautiful place, but many picturesque buildings.
Good après-ski in a couple of places, though if you don't like smoke this is unfortunately still allowed in Austria.

Visited Alpbach v8 2011 with family. What is stated in the other reviews is true - but the system was less than I expected. You can easily run the system in 2 days. It is worth pointing out that, if you live in Alpbach, the two different base stations (Gondolas) in Alpbach and Inneralpbach are either by car or by bus - so it's not just a journey to the lift with the skis on the shoulder. The village is cozy and, upon our visit, popular with Dutch and English. We stayed at the B & B a bit outside the village for 735 € for a week in a room (2 adults, 2 children) but there are also apartments for rent for about 500 € / week - and of course, much more comfortable / expensive hotel options.

Have been to Alpbach a 15 times. And made a season down there. Can only agree with the top two speakers and highly recommend Aplbach. Here is something for everyone. Good for beginners but more advanced rides for more experienced riders. A little minus is snow safety. Located quite low.

Have been to Alpbach almost every winter during my upbringing and I always feel like home when I get there! It's a small urban town, with a good selection of what you need and the locals are always friendly and very hospitable. Many cozy resturants to eat on, both in the slopes and down the village in the evenings. The skiing is wonderful and a tip for the little more experienced is to have a ski instructor a couple of days to go to the places where it is locked between the lifts :) There is plenty of nice deep snow to go when opportunity is given! Highly recommended to ALL.

Worked as ski instructor in Alpbach 4 seasons. I am driving in this small town because it is not so comercial and cozy is the right epithet to get to. And that when you are in Alpbach you are there. The real thing remains in this city in the way that you come into contact with the locals as opposed to larger villages. Here it is cozy and purple. You can go up to the mountains in the evenings and eat home cooking at home. small restaurants that have a personal service and always want to. the skiing is well suited for beginners as well as advanced skiers. There are plenty of blue slopes as well as very good and "safe" offpiste. This city is almost one of Britain's most visited tourists, as it is an old tradition for the Scottish guard to go to alpbach to hold its championship here. The village is not a party place to the extent that there are some nightclubs here. Here is the nice gasthaus to have a drink on instead. And there is more focus on conversations and social intercourse. The positive is that it is not more than a hundred meters between all the exhibits and you can walk around a bit as you please, and closing wax is when the last one has fallen. Here you should go if you want a qualitative experience. The calm is ruling in the valley and here you are not treated like a cash cow.

Visited Alpbach 3 times .. few times too much. Sure, it's a nice little town, but skiing is a bit tired of skiing. Inneralpbach is nice but will be very sad for the day. Not so good pistachio, nice resturants on the hill !!
