Astun

Astún is located in the Aragón Valley in the Pyrenees, near the border with France, with Jaca as the nearest larger town. The ski area sits high for the region, roughly 5,430 to 7,454 feet, which usually delivers a solid winter feel when conditions line up.

The skiing is clearly designed for those who like fast, groomed runs. In total, you’re looking at about 31 miles of skiing if you count both groomed slopes and marked routes, and there are 15 lifts. The terrain ranges from easy to difficult, but the overall impression is that Astún is best suited for intermediate skiers who want lots of laps with a smooth flow, with black-run options when you want to step it up.

If you want to get away from fully groomed skiing, there are marked ski routes—about 6 miles—which is often enough to find more natural snow close to the resort when conditions are right. At the same time, this is an area where snowmaking matters during milder stretches, and parts of the resort have artificial snow.
