Cerro Castor, located just outside Ushuaia at the bottom of Tierra del Fuego, is the world's southernmost ski resort. Here you ride on the slopes of the Martial Range with views of the Beagle Channel and the dramatic Patagonian landscape. The ski area stretches between 195 and 1,057 metres above sea level and offers around 30 slopes and 12 lifts. Thanks to its southern location, Cerro Castor offers a long season – often from June to October – with stable snow availability.
For beginners and families, there are wide and easy-to-ski slopes as well as a well-developed ski school. Intermediate skiers get a lot of variety with red slopes, while advanced skiers and snowboarders are attracted by the resort's park, steeper sections and easily accessible off-piste. Touring and ski touring opportunities are available for those who want to explore the mountains outside the lift system.
At the foot of the resort there are modern hotels, cottages and restaurants with local specialties such as king crab and Patagonian lamb. The atmosphere is calmer than in Bariloche or Las Leñas, but nearby awaits Ushuaia – the world's southernmost city – with a rich range of culture, museums and boat trips out into the Beagle Channel. The combination of snow-sure skiing, unique location and the experience of being "at the end of the world" makes Cerro Castor a special destination in the ski world.
