well I was there in 2005, it is a sweet place, has a nice old-school feel to it but you cant really say it's a resort, it's more a mountain hut with a little lift on the side. the glacier did not have any snow at that time, just did some hiking and at that altitude that's already quite an effort. if you are really into some serious expedition-style ski mountaineering however there is a lot more interesting mountains surrounding la paz, getting above 6000 metres.

was there in April -07. We arranged for a cheap slant of private transport with club andino boliviano (which meant they waved a taxi for us but also followed and guided all day). well up there you pay entry which is a small contribution to the club and then a small slope for ski hire. The equipment is very old and tired, it's gem instead of the buckles on most puzzles, for example. Then it's just knocking up a few hundred meters, not far but tough as a fan of that height, and afterwards try to get down on the semi-finished surface with narrow 80s of skis. not the best ride ever but a fun trip, cheap and nice photos I got!

When I was there it was said that the glacier had begun to melt and the lift had hung down in the slack. So did not become one of the planned yard.

I was there in 2004 and the lift was tough. Sometimes it stood still, sometimes backwards, but actually so much forward that you got to the top and could ride the 2-3 hundred altitudes with 80's (I think) gadgets and broken pants.

I was there in 1997, then the elevator was still a rope driven by a caravan engine and reversing wheels made of rims from the same car.

Skis were available for rent on site. The renters were from the late 60's and early 70's.

Fun and uncluttered place but hardly worth going around the ground for.

What I heard from March / April 2002, the only lift at the ski resort had given up, so I could not get up there and go skiing. The ski resort is the world's highest, so it's not a place to mess up and go.

CLUB ANDINO BOLIVIANO has more info: http://www.geocities.com/Yosemite/Trails/7553/cab1.html (in Spanish only)
