i'm a big fan of Jasna. Been there twice and really enjoyed the massive freeeride areas!

Cheap, friendly and awesome snow if you're lucky.

They do close the top lift a few times if they don't feel like working lol!

Jasna, ski resort in Slovakia located in Demanovska Dolina (Demanovska Valley) southern from Liptovsky Miklas under the Chopok mountain (2024 m) which is 2nd highest mountain of Nizke Tatry (eng: Low Tatras) mountain-range (national park). It’s the biggest Non-Alp’s ski resort in middle Europe. It offers perfect conditions for skiing in winter (17 lifts, 25 km of slopes, 3 freeride zones) and good conditions for downhill biking/cycling in summer -> 4 downhill trails (hard: 1,9km; two medium trails in total length 6km and easy one with length of 4,9km). There are lot of accommodation facilities in resort and in whole valley as well. Besides all this you can visit two beautiful caves located in valley, thermal and all-year long open aquapark located cca 20km from the lifts, or visit the highest mountain-range in Slovakia (Vysoke Tatry / High Tatras with the highest Slovak peak: Gerlachovsky Stit = 2655m) cca 50km far away from Jasna in north-east direction.

V 7 2020. Sleeping ferry Karlskrona-Gdynia followed by driving through Poland on fast roads, narrow roads over the Carpathians and then we are in the jacket. Two days canceled due to storm. The third day opened everything. The lift system is large south and north side combined. Good fall height - more than 1000 m. The state-of-the-art lifts. Quite challenging slopes in many places and a lot of variety. The lift pass is as expensive as Sweden --- everything else cheaper (hotel, food, beer, gasoline). On the way home stop in Osciviem (Auschwitz) we got both one and the other. Exciting journey!

Jansa in February showed his best side. Lots of snow, no queues and sunshine. The facility is located on a mountain rug 2000 meters with skiing on both the north and south side. Rolling slopes below the tree line and freeride areas marked on the pistemap above the tree line. Mostly red and blue. Just for a short week, but after that, the slopes would be tiresome. A great package with flight and full board made the skiing experience affordable, but next time we will try something different.

Love to travel in Austria and the Czech Republic for the good food and drink. Jasna is something completely different, other, drier snow, much more wilderness, genuine and yet modern. No, do not go here if you are going to compare with St. Anton or Ischgl, go here if you want peace and quiet, long heights, plenty of space in the piste and see something else than usual. Until this winter you have really seriously connected the north and south side, which I am very curious about. One invests in class more than volume as I perceive it. Bad with snow, maybe at the beginning of the season, but on the other hand it will be open until May 1st. Does not rate it's for individual what you value. Affordable, same thing there, but getting canoe skiing in early April at half price has gone well so far.

Professional and affordable ski service plus drop height over 1000 m means that I don't give a one but a weak second.

Most Slovaks on the chairlifts said they would rather go to smaller ski resorts than to Jasna. Owned by 1 monopoly company that tries to kind of own the whole country, treats the customer like air, shuts down lifts as soon as there's a gust of wind but misinforms about shutdowns (and has used very unsightly methods against environmental interests in the past).
Nowhere else in the world have I seen old men, and fathers with school children on their backs, skating uphill(!) to avoid getting stuck in the evening at the bottom of a pot after sudden and inexplicable lift shutdowns...

Cars with foreign license plates are apparently a bit of a lottery around the Tatra Mountains, a family had just then been fined 300 Euros for driving 10 km/h too fast (cars with domestic license plates were allowed to pass).

If you like professional ski resorts, Austria is just around the corner. If you like cheap, the Czech Republic is even closer (with the world's best beer after skiing, from non-alcoholic to strong+).
Jasna was neither professional nor cheap.

Fat place, Russians to polarize everywhere ... The queues often go far up in the back itself and there are no rules ... Here's the one strongest to the biggest first in the queue. Also often use snow shortage so beware of stones on the slopes, and even for all Russians who come down as they like to want to ... No, go for après ski for that cheap, check out the hotel's junior disco .. Will always come fast-paced performances there that are really worth seeing ...
