Nice villages w good food and nice staff. Really good forest skiing. Sestriere one of the ugliest alp villages we’ve visited. Ski system, Via Lattea, disaster. System under dimensioned for the number of people in the area. Haven’t seen such old lifts in ages. Super unfriendly and rude staff. Ski system closes down if the winds get just above average. Don’t know if it’s because the lifts are so bad or if the staff is just lazy and want to leave early. We will never return.

Week 9 2024, large amounts of fresh snow but mostly poor visibility. Sestriere unfortunately feels like a place on ice with a lift system that feels almost antique except for a reasonably new chair lift at the ski square. Many lifts seem to close at the slightest weather problem, which also means that you don't have the opportunity to ski to the other resorts in the via lattea system at all. It includes 2 days in Montgenèvre if you buy a 6-day lift pass, definitely worth taking advantage of if you take the bus there. Very easily accessible easy off-piste near the lifts.
Prices for lift tickets and accommodation noticeably cheaper than other alports I have visited, but as usual you get what you pay for.

Week 6, unlucky with the snow, have seen significantly more snow on the slopes here, the village like that, maybe not the best feature of the Alps, but good enough for old men like us. The lift system somewhat outdated but no long queues usually. Third time here now, and will be happy to come back when it has snowed more.

Outdated lift system, bad luck with snow during my stay there v.6. Hence many pistes closed. The village is horribly boring, bad quality in the pubs, no decent grocery stores. However, you got 2 days in France on your lift pass. At least Montgenèvre delivered during my trip to the via lattea ski system. Won't be coming back.

Awesome skiing but a little sad town. Had virtually no lift queues during the whole week during our visit v7 2019

Nice slopes, plenty of possible red and black slopes. There are blue too. In practice, four places, Sestriere, Sansicario, Sauze dÓulux and Montgenevre. Riding pistes even a week after snowfall. Nice restaurants in all villages. Lift queues most on the weekend. Went with Nortlander great / nice guides / travel guides when getting used to understanding Danish.

Lovely ski resort with good connection to the French ski resort Mongenevre. Here you will find everything for both families but also partying young people. If you are looking for heli-skiing, there is the resort.

Sestriere offers a nice ride and thanks to the fact that it is part of Via Lattea, there is much to explore. On sunny holidays there can be a lot of people in the form of Italians from Turin, but these preferably stay on the slopes so you can find nice pristine rides outside. Otherwise, if all the lifts are open, one can get away with the right short lifts in this homeland of the four-wheel lift.

The slopes are well-groomed and there are some really long nice slopes, especially in the neighboring areas of Sauze d'Oulz and Sansicario. The mountain Banchietta between Sestriere and Pragelato also has nice slopes. The black and red piste from Mont Fraiteve down to Sansicario is clearly a favorite, pity just that it takes three pretty tough lifts to go back up if you want to go there again.

It is highly recommended to explore the other side of the system against Claviere and Montgenevre. It's a bit there from Sestriere, but there are nice views along the way. In Montgenevre you can find nice cross country skiing at higher altitude in the area around Serre Thibaud. We were only here for a day and many lifts were closed, but there seemed to be nice forest skiing and lots of terrain to explore. I would love to go back here with lucky equipment when there is a lot of snow.

Via the Lattea system really has a ride for everyone and Sestriere is a nice village to start from, even though it is on the end of the system. However, it can be strategic to live closer to the French side, as the gondola lift Sestriere-Fraiteve can close if it blows a lot and then you do not take over the mountain.

Be here at the end of January 2017 but did not have excessive snow as noted when traveling down the valley past Sauze d'Oulx. The area of Sestriere and its villages is quite large and there is a ride for everyone but maybe not very much for the advanced.
The village is pretty big with some varied restaurants and a pretty big nightclub.
The food just does not fail in Italy, which little hut you end up in, it's really good.

So did 1 week here, it was ok but nothing left a direct impression and I do not have to go back.
