I am living in Sinaia.Good spot to freeride and ski tour.Vertical drop 1000 m.e-mail me ionardeleanu@yahoo.com
I've been to Sinaia a few times in 2008. It's a bit "half-dull" with snow right now - yet quite obviously. Of the Romanian ski resorts I have found, I think Sinaia is the best. Sinaia seems to have the safest snowfall, there are often good weather and the view is beautiful. Sinaia is high on a "real" mountain (2000m). You have to go to the cabin or gondola in two steps before getting up at the top. There are few downhill runs, but they are often fairly well prepared. There is a really good downhill with off-piste feeling from the top down to the Cota 1400 cabin station. The downhill ride requires though there is plenty of snow - otherwise the skis will be very battered. If you are doing it, you can do a little shorter and easier touring. Would you like to live on a simpler mountain retreat at one of the downhill routes. There is no way there, so when the lifts close you are "stuck" down the valley. However, one is guaranteed first in the piste in the morning. They are a simple but nice place where you have the chance to enjoy ziuga (Romanian homemade grappa) and soup on arrival. The lifeboat in Sinaia also applies in Busteni and Predeal. If you also try the other ski resorts Busteni, Azuga and Predeal, there are minibuses from Sinaia to the other villages. It takes about 10-20 minutes to travel between the villages.

Were there last weekend in April 2007. As a result, they had a very bad snow winter. For us, it was possible to go the top lifts at the back of the mountain. They started the lift when it gathered to a large number of people in the queue and shut it off as soon as we got up. The ride on the back was quite flat and not so exciting. However, the front looked much more interesting. Good with slopes, quite large areas and creative terrain with very suitable cliffs to play in and 600 meters fall height. However, there was no snow when I was there. According to a skating Romanian, it was possible to go all the way down to the village (1000m fahhöjd) until June 2005. But then I was not there.

I was there winter 05-06 and when I was there it was unfortunately bad snow conditions. But the mountain is quite steep and fine and it cries of little gorges and rocks. The area is locked so you can not go too far away from the lifts because there is a fence and newly planted forest that is very close so that no skiers go there. If you are likely to go there, make sure that the yoke can end in a few hundred high altitudes high cliffs so that kasnek is not as stupid idea of fencing. One bad thing is that you have to take a cabin up to the mountain before the ride goes by then you go up there all the time and have to go back to the cabin. Expensive and complicated. So the 1000 fall hearing meters are not effective so to speak. Rather, it's about 1400-dry 2000. With it seem to be basically no pisted slopes and that's good for most. It felt like better skiers in Sinaia than in Poiana Brasov, they had better equipment and my view was that: the rich and tourists go to Poiana and the skiers go to Sinaia. Compared to Poiana, this is a mountain and no wooded mountain and there is better skiing in Sinaia just when I was in Romania so there was so much better snow conditions in Poiana than here. I think, however, that the shooting is better in Poiana.
Overall, about skiing in Romania, there are approx. 30 ski resorts check http://www.skiresorts.ro/ and if the snow in Romania it's only dry cushions coming and there are very insecure conditions. Can be any good and can also be very bad.
