Were there one day at the end of January when we were in Zakopane in Poland, about 50 min m car. Hybrid fall height, but top notch as the stage. By the very top it was closed when there was too little snow. No off-piste skiing at all, piste or dense forest. South-exposed mountains. Modern 6- / 8-seat lifts. A little outdated gondola lift, but apparently a new one is coming soon. Fairly few slopes. No distinctive charm but fun to try Slovakia for one day.

Agree that one day can be enough for Slovakia;-) And if every other lift is standing still, it doesn't have to mean that it helps to take an extra day either...
Speaking of clearcutting, TatraInvest/TMR (which tries to own half of Slovakia, and decide everything) has "excelled" in several areas. If you are the least bit interested in the environment and like long slopes with a real drop height, Austria is several classes better (also Switzerland), even though the mountains in Slovakia are not much lower.

Lomnica is about an hour's drive from Zakopane and attracts a high fall height. The mountain is a bit like the Lofsdalen in Sweden - the flacka slopes downhill and steeper at the top. At the top it is too steep for skiing - there are swindler cabins both up and down to the cabin which are not included in the lift pass. The flat slopes in the lower part of the mountain are surrounded by a fairly ugly calf. There can be quite steep lanes to the lifts in the lower part, which leads to frustration when you want up to the upper slopes.
