Tussey Mountain

Ski resorts in USA
Tussey Mountain is located in Boalsburg outside of State College in Pennsylvania, with Penn State University just around the corner. It is a classic local slope that primarily thrives on being easy to reach and easy to ski a lot in – and in the winter it becomes a natural gathering point for both families and students who want to get skiing in without having to travel far.
The ski area has 14 slopes and approximately 15 hectares of skiable area, with a longest slope of about 0.7 miles. The terrain is manageable and leans towards beginner and intermediate skiing, where Little Bear is the clear entry hill with its own lift. The rest of the system is tied together by a larger chairlift that takes you to most of the mountain, and when the natural snow is enough, some more "forested" options also open up that can provide a little extra variety.

There is access to artificial snow on almost all slopes, and many of the slopes also have lighting, which makes Tussey work really well for night skiing. Add to that the availability of multi-lane tubing, and you get a clear set-up: a compact ski slope for many laps, plenty of evening operation and a strong local touch – exactly the kind of facility that builds skiing experience in generations of skiers.
