From the beginning I was going to spend a weekend here but when there were no available rooms it became a day trip. It's probably luck for the system is not that big you'd like to be 2 days here.
Getting to Yongpyong from Seoul is easy. There are buses from the airport and from the city center. I took a bus from Jamsil station and they depart about 6 in the morning. The journey takes 2.5 hours.
Recommend to book bus ticket in advance to be sure of location if it is high season. The bus I went with was fully booked.
Once upon a time it's easy to find. At the foot of the main back there is a kiosk selling lift passes (approx 350kr / day) and also paying for rental equipment (200kr for "Premium" skis). Then you receive the receipt and pick up skis, boots etc. in a large building next door. Smooth!
Most of the slopes are very flat and quite short. However, there are a number of good right-handers (Gold) and left (Rainbow) in the system.
Off-piste opportunities are basically non-existent. Very dense forest next to the slopes.
You can ride the lift streets but these areas were closed when I was there.
The backs were good all day and although some slopes were "clean-cut" towards the end, it became relatively little puckles and never ice-cold. Very nice snow conditions!
Home runs buses every hour from 5 am. Again, good to book in advance.
Plus
Easy to get to and from Yongpyong from Seoul
Well-organized
No major lift queues (except the gondola where it could be 20min queue) despite many people and fully booked hotels
Snow conditions in the slopes
Minus
Short slopes, many quite flat
Lots of beginner snowboarders you have to cross
No off-piste opportunities
