Part of the great skiing Amadee. Well worth a day or two. Nice winding slopes and pretty accessible off-piste .....
Here I would definitely be able to return with the family.

Were in Zauchenzee at the end of February 2014. We were lucky and arrived at the same time as the dumped snow, and got about 70cm new snow !! We could drive in untouched pillows all the way until the lift closed, as there were not so many others who used the mountains outside the slopes. Have not driven so many pillows before, so I was very pleased with the Zauchenzee!

There is a lot of good offpiste in the area. Very driftable forest partly quite steep. But it takes a lot of snow for quite a lot of the forest is really "hideous ". Very nice tour options with short review.
Clearly worth a few days but the area somewhat limited for longer stays.

I and Anna visited Zauchensee one day in March 2009. It had snowed quite a lot overnight, conditions could hardly be better.
We took the system to a pot where several lifts provide different parts of the mountain. In the western direction, an egglift went up along a hillside. We had the mountain pond completely for ourselves all day. For each ride we move the tracks a bit aside.
When we got down we got strange looks of the Austrian ski tourists. They like, "Why do not you go in the piste"? In other words, we had the offpiste all for ourselves in a lovely rather steep slope with large larch trees. Absolutely wonderful!
Very good with easy-to-reach offpiste that makes use of. Here you can easily combine riders who want to go off piste and in the slopes.

This year we hope for a return visit.
