Baker Mountain

Baker Mountain is a small and locally anchored ski slope in western Maine, just outside the community of Rangeley. The facility is run on a non-profit basis and is a clear example of the classic North American community slope, where the focus is on accessible skiing rather than on size or commercial development.

The ski area is compact and well-managed, with a few slopes that are mainly suitable for beginners and intermediate skiers. The terrain is soft and relatively level, making Baker Mountain well suited for families, ski school and night skiing. The lifts are simple tow lifts, in line with the small-scale character of the slope.

The snow conditions are largely based on natural snowfall, supplemented by limited snowmaking if necessary. The environment is characterized by forest and a calm atmosphere, and here skiing is more about community and local involvement than about long runs or technical challenges.
