Located in Farmington, Maine, Titcomb Mountain is a classic little home slope run by the Farmington Ski Club. The resort has roots all the way back to 1939, which is noticeable in the feeling – here there is more association life and ski culture than resort packing.
The skiing is manageable with 16 slopes and a vertical drop of about 351 feet. The lift system consists of two T-bar lifts and a simpler children's lift, and there is access to artificial snow as well as night skiing, which means that the mountain works well even when the winter is rough or when you want to go after school and work.
Titcomb is particularly popular with families and young skiers, with an active children's ski school, competition activities and a lot of local involvement. An added bonus is that the area also has 9.9 miles of groomed cross-country trails, both for classic and skate – so this is a place where the whole winter can be accommodated in the same place.
