Banff reviews

Staying in Banff for a week over New Years 2024 with family. We stay in a hotel called Peaks and it is relatively new and central, everything within walking distance. Drove the first day in Sunshine about 20 minutes by car from Banff.. a little bad with snow and needs a dump or two to get fully on but big area that can provide all kinds of challenges. We then chose to spend all the remaining days in Lake Louise, which has an absolutely wonderful back side, take the grizzly gondola express up and on the back also the paradise lift up and endless black unguided forest skiing appears. Dumps around 10-15 cm every night and around 8-15 degrees cold. Absolutely wonderful. Just had to ski some Pika and Wiwaxy (green) with the kids but but better ski days than none at all.. 169 runs according to the map and haven't tried hikings paradise but can't be anything but awesome. New favorite LL.. we will be back

Banff is 1.5 hours by car from Calgary. Stan is completely complete and you therefore live best there. A 4x4 car is recommended to transport to the Sunshine Village, Mt Norquay and Lake Louise ski areas. In the area, it average 9 meters per season. There is plenty of accommodation in all price ranges and the town offers a nice cowboy feeling with lots of wildlife, even in the middle of town!

Five minutes from town, Mt Norquay is a small mountain but well worth a day's ride. Despite its smallness, there is a ride in all levels of difficulty.

Six miles from Banff, in the middle of beautiful Banff National Park, Lake Louise is located. The ski area is the largest in Canada's part of Rocky Mountains, and here you can also find the toughest ride. A fast gondola and several quick chairlifts take one up in the mountains. The front is prettier than the backside where you find unlimited control but unstable bowling.

We liked the best about Sunshine Village which is 20 minutes by car from Banff. From the parking lot there is a fast, three kilometer long gondola up to the ski area which is high on a plateau in a valley. Most of the lifts leave from this plateau and here you will also find some service and food. Most of the rides are above the tree line and there is no limit to the lift cages off the piste. Most of the rides are in the blue-red scale, but really steep rides are also available. For those who want a real challenge, Delirium Dive requires some preparation before you can get approved.

Banff is recommended for anyone who can imagine really varied rides and want a greater natural experience than you get at most other ski resorts in the world.

First, I can make a brief statement. sunshine go and drink dough, or throw yourself in the wall. LL has SO much more to offer !!! the back is absolutely beautiful full of backs with the very nice designation with two black diamonds. a real jewel box! The city of Banff is a bit like almost eagles, popfriends running around and wanting to be cool, things you'd love to be without but you can not get it all.
The summary is simple, two words are enough: go there

Banff is absolutely amazing where in April all the backs were open in the sunshine even in lake louise. It was snowing almost every evening The offpiste was how cruel it is best to think yes the offpiste was in Lake Louise. The snowboarding park was very good in sunshine but in Lake Louise they had slightly more varied rails and jumps. In lakelouise I only went in a pipe they were a super pipe pretty cruel but I liked more the pipe that was open in the sunshine.

In lake louise there was a lot of fake snow on the bottom so you had to get up a bit to get to the goa snow pudersnön. In the sunshine, the powder was everywhere at the bottom. I'm laughing you're happy they're trying to open as long as possible, often they have open until June, great snow in April and cruel long runs

JAg was there last year in February. I can only notice after many days with 50 cm cushions that Banff is the best !. Yo'll go there this year again. We stayed in a hotel called Carabiou Lodge ... SUPER !.
Sunshine and Lake Louise were top but Mt Norqie really said. But go to Banff you will not be disappointed!

What in March and it was snowing every night after March 10th it was best the rest of March 03! the sun / village was a bit B while Lake Louise was the best there was a lot of Off-pist before the line! then we fixed so we the tow is right scratch From the top of the Larch Lift 300m fall meters above the end of the lift!

We are also looking to go to Kicking Horse and The Zone "Paramount", Jesper, Fremie.
Rent a car for one per day or catch the bus from Banff.

We will come here again!

Banff is an incredibly beautiful city and the ski system is superb! The people are incredibly nice, polite, friendly .. there is nothing negative to say about them.
There are slopes for all styles. You can also take day trips to places like Kicking Horse - turned around completely open. Great place with powder!
Recommend to go off season, you get so much more! A plus for skiers are all chairlifts. I was there for a week 2001 and 6 weeks 2002. I'll definitely be back there!

The resort of Banff is one of the few resorts in Canada that has a party factor. Much accommodation in varied price ranges, several hostels. Bus to the ride. Norquay, Sunshine and Lake Louise are not so remarkable individually, but together they give variety to the ride. Possibility to go bus to Panorama and Kicking Horse a few times a week is also available. Nakiska and Fortress are also within striking distance.
The variation gives a four, but personally I prefer some smaller cushion type Fernie.

Spent my Spring Break in Banff on the sweethearting (no cigarettes they do not smoke here) Backpacker Youth Hostel. Well, cheap accommodation was iaf. The actual ridge in Norquay is nothing to hang in the Christmas tree, but on the other hand, Sunshine, especially LL, dropped me into the taste. Had the hassle of encountering a Local at the parking lot in LL to show me his goodies which were not few. He skid on average 100 days a year only in LL so he knew what he was talking about. The back of the LL offers good steep rides with many opportunities to drip cliffs as well as to ride in one of the many coloiries. Recommends LL sharply. The nightlife in Banff was all right, the beer at Out of Bounds was a cannon, ie 1 SEK beer until 7 people went to the toilet. Well, at last the snow is easier here than in the Alps ...

Both Lake Louise and Sunshine are faded Lindvallar, just a lot of people. Sunshine has giant dining flooring for those who are going on such things. Go to the small towns instead.
