Just returned from a weekend in Järvsö with her 5-year-old daughter.

The fall height is absolutely limited (197m) but super-prepared and many varied slopes, as well as short lift queues mean that the fall height meter per hour hits most ski resorts.

Really happy and impressed by how all the service staff such as ski workshop, ski pass sellers, ski instructors and lift hosts are so happy and nice in a way that is rare. It is noticeable that the residents of Järvsö are proud of their facility!

In comparison with Romme & Kungsberget, Järvsö is genuine and authentic with a strong village feel and cozy surroundings (and not least the railway connection!)

You go here for a long weekend, preferably with the kids, to ski instead of queuing, and feel really, really good!

I will be back soon!

Highly recommended! Everything within easy reach of the train - accommodation, ski system, restaurant and shop. Fits different levels and ages - with new lift rarely queues!

Järvsöbacken is a charming ski resort. The slopes are usually well-groomed, there is rarely any longer queues in the lift. Perfect for families with children with two children's areas and three rollers to make it extra easy to get up so the little ones can learn to ski / board. Good range of food as there are 7 different cakes / restaurants to choose from.

It was nice during the day.
However, when it was open until 7:30 pm, it was unfortunately so that all slopes except 3 were closed. The south side of the mountain was completely shut down after 3 pm and it was very poor reference. We happened to go into the seine area and luckily got hold of a passing staff who called on scooters.
The lighting in the evening was abysmal, you saw nothing, especially at the anchor lifts on the north side. You didn't see where you went.
Good for beginners during the day, in the evening it was even difficult for us who traveled quite a while.

Think about Åre, Sälen, Idre and all other major ski resorts in Sweden and instead focus on good piste skiing and close to Stockholm - there is Järvsö.
Good piste, wide slopes, good food, good cabins, cheap and short distance to the capital. Go much better here than to, for example, Romme and Kungsberget. Smaller people and hence more riding time.
Previously, the lifts have been small and very tough. Hope that the new six-seat lift before 18/19 will solve it.

Nja, Järvsö is very nice, but feels like a shattered Romme. Good for a couple of hours, but then it's enough. Simply too small fall height for it to be ngt. Tired lifts.

Perfect for the family and / or the beginner / average traveler .... only 3.5 hours from Stockholm.
Sure, you could wish for a little longer slopes, but the slopes that are available are sufficient if you want to get cruising skiing without having to spend a full day in the car to get all the way up to the little bigger ski resorts further up in the country.
With the new sex chair lifts to be built in 2018, you will get rid of the queues that are available during the sports week.
So if you want good skiing, without long lifts and near Stockholm ... yes then, I can not imagine anything better and more cozy than Järvsö.
