What do you think about Madonna di Campiglio?

Hello! We went down to Madonna v.14 (2008). We stayed at Marileva 1400m which was a major tourist residence, no further place if you do not just have to go to sleep. We were lucky that snow came over them for the first two days, because there was some snow in some places. The skiing was really good, I think both in the piste and in the offpiste. It's worth going up when the elevator opens if you want them really nice snowy rides. It was easy to get around with the lifts in the systems, the lifts were often very small (often 2-3 seat lifts). What surprised me a lot was that most of them were beginners. When you saw some who looked a bit better, they were Swedes.

The Madonna di Campiglio village was cozy and compact. As usual, there were almost only really expensive shops, with occasional souvenirs.

The offpiste I think was really good in part. It was almost only we who went offpiste felt like, so you had plenty of pillows to move on.

+ Ride for them most.

- Very beginners, fast-paced packs.

+ When it's newly typed, the slopes hold high grade.

Summary: A good ski resort in the Alps that keeps a good class.

Was there in week 5 2007, it was about 80 cm snow but had not fallen snow in 2 weeks.

MdC is boasted for very well groomed trails and a lot of life on the ground.
Minus for bad and boring trails. The best trail is the one called F.I.S 3. Very good red trail. Otherwise, there are too many blue. Will never go there again.

Stayed at the Golf Hotel, incredibly good hotel with lots of people, elevator 50 meters away, SPA department and overall nice service.

Here comes the first review for this year then.
I went to Madonna di Campiglio / Folgarida during the 2006 sports holiday week. We had looked forward to a lot of sunshine and okay skiing. Unfortunately, we only got to take part in one of them, that is, quite ok or just fine driving.
Before we arrived, there had been a glorious sun in months with the exception of some snowfall. The snow was at an altitude of acceptable 1.20m. The day we arrived it was a lot of snow and it was good for then we would have a fresh snow already on the first day of the hill. And we had that too, but it never stopped snowing. Big clouds covered the entire area, resulting in a lot of snowfall all week, and when it did not snow it was cloudy. In a few hours for 2 days we had the sun and then the place was lived up properly.
We stayed in a hotel in Folgarida at the top of the hill called Chalet degli Angeli. For 430 euros / person we were given room, breakfast and dinner for one week. It was a really nice hotel with fun, little crazy waiters and great food. To get to the hotel we have to take the lift so it was about time. However, it was nice to just throw out the snowboard and start going straight in the morning.
Folgarida has good blue and red backs, maybe a bit of a lot of people. But I think that's because the Italians had their Settimana Bianca during this week, so a week when many travel to ski and go snowboarding.
The lift system worked well for Madonna di Campiglio and Marilleva. Perhaps sometimes there were a bit of many upswing which can make it difficult for snowboarders. But by the way, it went well. Madonna di Campiglio is a cozy town with many expensive cafes and restaurants. You will find everything you need there though.
Before I left, I read the reviews here about MdC and the Italian style and I must admit that I thought it was excessive, but not. I started laughing the first day on the slopes. There were so many who drove with all-over in all sorts of colorful colors. Felt like living in the 80's.
Finally: Folgarida / McD is a great destination if you like beautiful views, great slopes and fun people. I will never forget the waiters at our hotel. Unfortunately, I can not tell you about the celebration of McD, but I have heard that there is a nice nightclub / disco in McD called Des Alpes. The hotel we stayed at also had a good bar.

It will be enough to go back next year, for me, Folgarida / McD was absolutely amazing.

Okay, then we have had a review from week 5 and one from week 6. Then is it time to get one from week 7 when we were there ...
However, I can not be as kind to Madonna as you guys. Sure, it had not snowed just as you say since 26/12, but I do not think the slopes held high class. On the contrary, I thought they were on several occasions under all criticism! Sure, now I went to Madonna and Folgarida for just 3 days, but I think that a place bragging that you have snow cannons covering 95% of the slopes should have been running?
It is very possible that you can perceive Madonna and Folgarida as well if you go skiing, but for a skier there is nothing duller / worse than blue bays that tend to be green, which I sadly think is the case in Madonna.

We were also in Pinzolo one morning (which should be built together with Madonna in 2006) and there were actually the red slopes red and not blue. Really nice ride though very little.

Well, unfortunately, I have to say that I can not recommend anyone to go to Madonna, Folgarida or Marrileva if you do not like blue backs (as a skipper must take off the board and walk in)
Unfortunately, I have to clamp down on the parking possibilities (or lack of them) for those (like us) who come by car. I do not intend to pay 8 Euro to park a day in a garage just because you can not park on the street for any untrue reason. If you drive to the area, I recommend staying in Dimaro (boring but cheap city) located 1 mile from Folgarida. Then go and park in Folgarida for 2.3 Euro and ride the lift system to Madonna.

Madonna was not really what I had expected when I was on the bus from GBG on Friday 6th week. When we were 1.5mil from the village, we did not get the glimpse of any snow yet. Oron spread out.
Luckily, snow was good on the slopes, but unfortunately not aside.
I thought I had a gun week!

To begin with: Sun every day! Incredible. We had two mornings, but the clouds disappeared at lunch and the sun looked forward again.

The other one who hit me was how good the slopes were. It had not snowed since December 26th, and it was smocked with people on the slopes. Nevertheless, there were really good slopes almost every day. Some day it was a bit odd maybe, but not so dangerous. You could always find good tracks in the piste.

The third was how bad all other skiers were. Lots of Italians with spikraka 2-meter skis that reminded a lot about Stig H in "Snowroller". The few who went well (there were really few) were racing drivers who trained in the slopes shortly. If you want to shine on the hill then this is the place for you.

Everything is always expensive in Italy. For example, paid € 0.5 for a tray and € 8.0 for a piece of lansange.
Cheap and easy-access spirits in the usual food stores and age limit are 16 years old.

The hotels seem to keep good class (choose at least 3-star though) 'and the food is very good. The pasta dishes and the pizza up at Folgarida (spelled they?) Is a must! Eat!

When we were there, unfortunately there was a little snow next to the piste, so we could not drive any further offpiste. However, there were fantastic opportunities for the offpiste when there is more snow. Very sparse forests and great views next to the piste. Before you decide on M.dC, check out that there is a lot of snow, so I promise you get a really great trip with lots of sunshine, good slopes and a good offpiste!
Go for it! / Eric

Spent week 5 this year in Madonna. Madonna is very good. Never in my 50-year career experienced better prepeded slopes throughout the Alps.
It had not snowed since December 26th and there were still hard (uneven slopes) and nice slopes. The difficulty of the slopes is not the highest but is good.
The ski system is built with Foldarida and Marilleva, and plans are being built with Pinzolo. The longest exit today is about 1 mile long.
Agrees with yours that it is very expensive in MdC, but that's all in Italy, except in Livigno, which is a tax-free area.

Must update with better grades this time.
Were there this weekend and now, when I find better among the lifts and slopes, I have to say that Madonna is very classy!
Pistes this time of year are absolutely amazing Sorry a little snow right now so offpiste I can not comment. Cool but Expensive place.

I think the slopes seem to be underestimated, good and hard prep, have never been there late spring but maybe the piste will be a bit sloppy because the sun likes to shine there. Then you feel a bit extra o go on the slopes where Stenmark took its first victory ... though the Italians do not seem to know who Stenmark is even though all bars and restaurants have photos of him on the walls. The offpiste is almost in class with Whistler.

Madonna Di Campiglio is not an impressive area consistently with other systems in the Alps. It comes under funds. This is because:
- The lift system is not big and quite badly linked to the possibilities that exist to create a very nice system. In addition, it is probably the same basket lifts in several places since Stenis made its premiere.
- Where there are Offpist opportunities, it is either too short, too short or too steep (steep, late stupid, late flat fall, relaxed or worn off the leg as someone stole up)
- High prices most of the time, food, ski rentals, accommodation, lift pass (keeping the normal level.)
+ Is the beautiful surroundings.
+ The village is well located.
+ The piping is of high quality.
+ Zebra speed suit time is not over.
+ Many sun hours.
Want to mix up with rich people who can not go skiing, experience the ski king's back, go for a good meal, sunbathe, go skiing, look nice cars and finally see the ski clothes you did not think so, maybe MDC suits you.

Pretty small ski resort but so classic.
Many rich northern Italians with nice cars and ugly clothes. May be very hot in the slopes as a result especially at the end of March.
Good backs are not very long and many but are suitable for all types.
+ For: Nice people and well-groomed backs
- For: Almost everything is expensive.
