Mariborsko Pohorje - Maribor

Mariborsko Pohorje is Slovenia's largest contiguous ski area and is located directly above the town of Maribor, providing an unusually urban skiing experience. Skiing spreads along the forested slopes of the Pohorje Mountains and is characterized by long, smooth slopes rather than steep alpine terrain.

The resort is especially known for its long slopes with a stable slope, where several slopes stretch all the way down to the valley. The terrain is dominated by blue and red slopes, often drawn through dense forest, which provides good protection in bad weather and contributes to good visibility even during snowfall. The drop height is relatively modest, but the length of the runs compensates for it to some extent.

Mariborsko Pohorje is also internationally known for its extensive night skiing and has at times had the world's longest illuminated ski slope. The combination of artificial snow, lighting and the proximity of the city makes the ski area a popular choice for both locals and visitors who want to combine skiing with city life.

In addition to the piste skiing, there is some off-piste-like skiing in the forest in good snow conditions, but the focus is clearly on groomed slopes.
