A perfect ski resort for families with different needs. We stayed at Hotel Vittoria which with its ski locker with direct access to the slopes was perfect. Good and efficient ski rental adjacent to the hotel was also a plus. The ski system is not gigantic by the standards of the Alps but would go as a huge facility in Sweden and is good enough for a week with its variety. The high altitude ensures plenty of snow and there are some real gems to discover. Be prepared for rather rustic meals on the half board (not so classic Italian) although there are also alternatives. As for Hotel Vittoria, be prepared for tent bed level on the 2 beds in addition to the double bed. High noise volume in the dining room which can be perceived as disturbing. Slopestar has been incredibly good to travel with. High and correct service with high availability. They even visited us at the hotel to see that everything was ok and before that you got a personal call the day before you would travel down. Very good.

Week 9 2025
Nice very small resort with short slopes. It was just over two weeks since snowfall and unusually warm for the season when we were there. The slopes in the middle above the village are very short and are close to each other. To the right and left on the piste map, there are slightly longer slopes and a little higher altitude that makes the snow last better. The whole system is on the south slope (the piste map has north down) except for the Presena glacier which is on the north slope and is in constant shade.

With only the pistes available, the system becomes very small and the long runs down from Presena become hard and icy. With a lot of fresh snow, there is a lot of lift-served off-piste between the slopes.

The skiers were mostly families from Poland and Czech Republic and some racers on training camps. No one seems to get off the slopes so after the dump you should be alone in the snow.

Will not go back for a whole week if it has not dumped.

Varied skiing and something for everyone. More people than expected on the slopes. Passo Tonale seems to be popular for ski schools, there were groups in the central part of the system.
The slopes at the very top of all parts of the systems were the ones I liked best.

Me and my daughter (16 years old) were in Passo Del Tonale v7 2024 and we had great conditions! 60 cm of fresh snow days before we arrived and brilliant sun for 6 days, magical of course!

We think it's a super nice place. Of course it's not huge, but you can find nice riding on the glacier or if you look for the Ponti Di Legno area with harder riding. We experienced the food as cheap and perfectly ok. Very few lift queues on the outskirts of the area.

Not a place for après ski clearing, but a nice family place.

Many beginners in the lower part of the system, but it's just a matter of finding your way out.

Can highly recommend getting to the glacier at 06.30 on Friday morning (the lift opens once a month for this) and experience the sunrise.

Was in Passo Del Tonale week 9 2023. Stayed in the middle of the village. Very happy with the slopes and also happy with the off-piste riding. Despite a lot of people, we never queued for the lifts and love that the piste map also shows off-piste and skitouring routes. I toured a lot and went several parts of the Adamello Ski Raid - so nice and fun "pass" in more places (combs to get over etc). I can imagine going back, but then I'm hoping for more snow to be able to go more lift-carried and easily accessible off-piste. Good food everywhere I thought.

We were two families in Passo Tonale v.8 2020 with children between 5-9 years. We had an absolutely magical week with good skiing and sun every day. The system is not huge but a really good ski resort for families with children. There are some long red / blue slopes that are really nice. The ride at the Presenaglaciaren was also really good for the whole family. In Ponte di Legno the slopes were a little too steep for our children but nice slopes for those who like red / black forest pistes. There are many restaurants with sun terraces in the system. However, we were not so impressed with the food. Traveled with sloop trotters and it worked great. We also booked a day to Madonna di Campiglio. Cost 43 euros / person extra. Very nice system in Madonna that we would love to go back to if it wasn't for all the lift queues and congestion on the slopes. Are certainly significantly smaller people when it is not week of praise. In Passo Tonale there were queues for some lifts but much calmer than Madonna. The village of Passo Tonale is quite small but quite so cozy with little shops, restaurants etc. Now it hadn't snowed in a while but otherwise there would be very easily accessible off-piste.

I have been to Chamonix, Bad gastein, Canazei and Val d'iseer before. Passo Tonale is considerably smaller but stands really well

Visited Passo Tonale v10 2018. Was a little skeptical considering some reviews and limited total pile length. Must say I was pleasantly surprised. One could say that it is a good family place with easier slopes on the southern slopes. Possibilities for a good offpiste are also available. If you want more advanced rides there are black and red backs on the other side of the road with the Presena glacier where you reach 3000m. I personally appreciated most of the black and red slopes of Ponte Di Legno, which lie a bit further into the valley. They last a little longer on the day when the sun is not on straight. They are also good when the weather is a little worse when you go far below the tree line.
If you need even more skiing, take a day trip to Madonna Di Campiglio.
Stayed at good hotel - with nice SPA- in the middle of the village with 50-100 m to the hill. Perhaps no place for those who need a lot of time but OK by the way.
In summary, a nice place with varied rides for most.
Have been to other Italian resorts like Canazei, Cortina, Cervinia and Champoluc - Passo Tonale perform well.
