Sierra Nevada reviews (Page 2)

Ski resorts in Spain
What do you think about Sierra Nevada?

Have been there twice, and have mixed feelings. However, the bins and the snow are not the problem, but queues and broken pistons. The nearest ski resorts are in Marocco and in the Pyrinees, so it is very full here on weekends. The snow has declined in the last years, say local as I spoke to, as stated above, the best time to go there is from early January to mid March. If you go on weekdays you should usually avoid queues, and there are lots of pillows for everyone! Not like the Alps, but nice people, lots of sun and many events. If you are a man you can also go down to the sea, to Salobereña, and swim there. Pretty cold then, but it's just lovely. Granada, which is the nearest town, is also a giant city with lots to see. Cheap in Spain too!

Were in Sierra 18-21 March 2007. A little snow in the surroundings but quite okay slopes. Now I went with my wife and children (6 + 9 years) so there were no black slopes for us. We had brilliant sun all three days and clear blue skies. It is well under such conditions that skis are to be taken? All in all, I thought it was a cannon. We stayed well at the Hotel Melia (****) where the family room was maybe a bit boring with the food was absolutely superb. The resort as such is okay if you do not have any great expectations for shopping but just want to soak in the sun after a full day of skiing, drink some pilsner and eat well. We paid about 1400 kronor for ski rental for three days and 2 adults and two children. The ski passes cost about 3,000 SEK for three days. If you want to make it easy for you and rent skis, there are lots of options and there's nothing to think about before leaving home. As previously written, the Spaniards are no stars on skis. Do not know how many people got to help feet these days. Liftköer was the one to talk about immediately. I think it worked relatively smoothly if you were away from the Spaniards' own exercise races (green) with their associated lifts. Overall three very good skiing days. Already waiting back. Please email if you have any questions.

Stayed in Málaga in 2003 and then took some skiing; o)
Me and some friends took a day off school one day to despise the Spanish slopes!
I do not regret it for a second .... we took the car from Varma Málaga and 2 hours later on a couple of skis in snowy Sierra Nevada! Wonderful feeling; o) And it is relatively cheap to go there (both ski passes and food) if you are in agreement with the Dolomites & Alps.
Very good area to go in and when we were there in April there was no queue for the lifts and no Spaniards hihi; o)
I would highly recommend going there and try it out!

Warm sunny greetings!

was there on the sports promise ... it was snow storm when I got there so it was lovely powder snow the next day =) =) that was how fun ... the park was nothing to cheer for ... the pistols were in the park on then while it was open did not do much ... throughout my stay there was no kick to the rollocoster box and the c-box ... it took 4 days to shapa the dice for them, unfortunately it was the race on the opening day that was mine last day in sierra nevada ... The lift that one has to take to get to the park was very close, so almost everyone who went to the park hacked ... it was very difficult because the park was at 3100m altitude.
The slopes were wrong, but the lifts could be quite long ... depending on where you were and what time ...

Was there week 3, was absolutely awesome! Obviously, arrived significantly more snow than when the previous "guest" reviewed. Laguna was open, yes everything was open.

Very well, the Spaniards do not know what lift queue is for something, or I do not know how to behave in one. Above all, they do not know how to stay in the ski slope. One person died and I saw how many collisions (from the elevator when I left the central parts of the system) during the week I was there ...
On the other hand, it does not worry when the entire system is open, as these beginners seem to keep the key parts of the system (where you do not want to go!).
Incredible lift queues are by no means unique to Spain .. they are found in most of the resorts in the Alps with.

The prerequisites for the combination of really good weather (Europe's sunniest ski resort) and good skiing makes Sierra Nevada a very good option in my opinion.
After a dump, it must be so wonderful as the shooting areas are huge.
The slopes were in divine condition during the week I was there.

Tip:
Avoid high season (week 52-01, last weekends in February and first in March when the place is invaded by crazy Spaniards without knowing or knowledge) When I was there, I never spent more than 2 minutes in the lift queue.
Make sure there is snow by looking at their website.

Have fun!

I was there one day week 1 2006, because I was nearby. When we were there, there was not so much natural snow, which meant we almost just went on the canyon. The weather was wonderful. A few degrees of minus and the sun shine.
The lift queues are nothing to cheer for. If you are afraid of your skis and go there during high season you should think about it. The cows are wide at the back and narrow downwards. This leads to people standing on each other's skis to get well in the queue.
When we were there, Laguna was not open and it made the trip worse. Go here if offpiste and cool pistes do not care. If you like to drift around the sun then go here.

I have just come from there. Were there on April 27th. (their last day of the season).
The slopes were okay but probably there was a little too late ... :-) Be right up the hill down the valley, but in the high zone it was wonderful.

Recommend to go there for anyone who can!

Be there over New Year and have to say they are incredibly good at building big jumps and rails, most of them keeping high class and backs, there are all categories. The biggest problem with Sierra Nevada is that they have a bad lift system, only three lifts from the square and no fence electricity. such as steering up gender. It will be a lot of stuffy people.
Along with the real system, you can find available lifts without any queue, but in Sierra they use the tram system (wide at the back and narrow out) that makes it easy to get along without getting along with them If you do not mess yourself .. Then we have English as not there are not many who speak fluently so be sure to always ask someone who speaks ENG so you do not waste time on boring misunderstandings. Go there if you want good riding and do not care so much about how the queues are .. (the weather was the cannon when I was there so it's not complaining)

I was here at the sports club and it was about 5 degrees hot but in the sun it was almost 20 degrees.

Really a nice experience.
Got a cannon brown on the purchase!

Go there !!

Great ski resort that has everything.
I was there late in the season (March 2001), but there was no snow shortage. Should you drive offpist you should probably be there earlier.
Spain is relatively cheap to live in and the lift pass was cheap!
In addition, there is a telemark store with very nice staff. :)
Will definitely go there again! If you have not seen Sierra Nevada, it's high time you do it!
