West Mountain

Ski resorts in USA
Located in Queensbury, New York, just outside Adirondack Park, West Mountain is a smooth ski slope that works perfectly for day visits. With the proximity to the Adirondacks, you get a clear "northeast feeling" in the terrain, but with a setup that is easy to understand and quick to ski a lot in.
The ski area has around 30-31 slopes, with a clear emphasis on intermediate skiing (about 65%). The drop is about 1017.1 feet and the skiable area is around 51 hectares, which provides plenty of space to grind slopes without everything feeling cramped. There are also some marked forest areas for those who want a little more variety than pure piste skiing.

A major strength is that there is access to artificial snow on all slopes, which makes the season more stable in a region where the weather can fluctuate. The lifts have also been modernised, with newer four- and triple-seater lifts keeping up the pace.

For families and mixed groups, there is a substantial tubing area with several long courses, and this makes West Mountain a typical "Adirondack-close" facility: good vertical drop for the size, very intermediate skiing and a system that suits both family and everyday riders.
