Gore Mountain is located in the Adirondack Mountains in the northern parts of New York State and is the largest ski resort in the state in terms of skiable terrain. The resort spreads over four contiguous mountains: Gore Mountain, Bear Mountain, Burnt Ridge Mountain and Little Gore Mountain, providing a varied ski area with a clear division between different types of skiing.
With a vertical drop of about 2536.1 feet and over 400 acres of skiable terrain, Gore Mountain offers long, continuous slopes that are different from many other ski resorts in the northeastern United States. The terrain is wide and naturally shaped, with everything from open piste skiing to more technical skiing in forests and along mountain ridges. The Burnt Ridge area is known for its quieter character and more natural snow profile, while the main mountain houses most of the lift and piste network.
Gore Mountain is owned and operated by the state of New York, which is evident in the investment in accessibility, infrastructure and variety rather than exclusivity. The focus is on skiing with proper ###8c89ed17472705a666c96e031bbda49a#, plenty of space on the slopes and clear separation between different levels of difficulty.
Despite its relatively remote location, Gore Mountain is relatively easy to reach. Amtrak serves Saratoga Springs, from where it is about an hour's drive to the ski area. Albany Airport is about an hour and a half away, and during the winter season, bus services are also available directly from New York City on select weekends.
