Located in Pinkham Notch in New Hampshire, Wildcat Mountain is a classic in the Mount Washington Valley – known for its rugged New England terrain and some of the best views on the East Coast. Here you ski with a view straight towards Mount Washington and the Presidential Range, which means that even a normal piste day can feel unusually big.
The skiing is substantial for its size: 48 slopes, about 91 hectares of skiable area and a vertical drop of 2112.9 feet – one of the largest vertical droperna in New Hampshire. The lifts are few but effective (5 lifts), and much of the skiing revolves around you getting up quickly and then getting a long, continuous ride down.
The Wildcat also has a nice detail that makes the mountain easier to ski than many people think: the Polecat, a long and gentle descent of 2.7 miles, which allows even less experienced skiers to descend from the top without drama. At the same time, there is plenty of more "real" skiing with steeper slopes and tougher sections when the surface is hard – the Wildcat has a clear edge compared to many other nearby facilities.
In terms of snow, Wildcat is often in a good position, with 500+ cm of natural snow per year on average, which means that it can deliver really nice days when it has dumped in Whites.
