Folgefonna

Ski resorts in Norway
Near Bergen in western Norway lies the glacier ski resort of Folgefonna, a place where jibbers who want to jump keep coming back. The area has a lift, a maximum drop of 820,2 feet and a total of seven slopes. A large part of the slopes are of expert level, so even experienced skiers tend to appreciate Folgefonna. The ski resort itself is located at 1,200 metres above sea level, on Norway's third largest glacier, Fonna. All types of skiers have been coming here for over 20 years, and the interest is not decreasing.
There are plans to develop Folgefonna into Scandinavia's leading summer ski centre with associated park and cross-country skiing. It's the great variety that attracts everyone from downhill skiers to jibbers, cross-country skiers and beginners. When the rest of Europe's ski resorts close their doors for the season, Folgefonna opens theirs. The summer season usually starts at the end of April, perfect for those who want to extend the year's skiing by a couple of weeks.
