Beautiful landscape but unfortunately substandard service. In Funäsdalen, both the gondola and the chairlift are closed. Probably due to cold as it is largely windless. Went on the same slope several times until we got tired. Chose to go to Tänndalen which was a mistake. All chairlifts were closed and only one button lift and a little further away a drag lift open. Extra frustrating when you could read that most things, including the gondola, were open in Åre. Where we normally go this time of year! Went to Tännkröken where we had our cabin. Good piste, but sad that the only tow lift stopped so often. When we arrived at Tännkröken on the first day, we had left home well in advance for possible traffic problems and that I want to avoid driving when it is dark. Now everything went well and we arrived at 15 and at 16 we had access to the cottage. I had thought that we could have a nice time in the restaurant and enjoy the mountains. But, I was wrong. The restaurant and the whole facility closed at 15 and I had apparently been informed about that, so the idea was then to wait in the car or be out in the cold! As I said, the level of service and the customer does not always seem to be at the top of the agenda!

Beautiful scenery and good skiing, but the prices are starting to skyrocket. Both for alpine and cross-country skiing.
Will probably choose another destination in the future.

I visited Funäsdalsberget and Ramundberget one day in week 10 2023 when I "was nearby". The mercury was well below zero and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. If you are also the first on the slope, the conditions for a good skiing day are hard to beat. When the slopes are world-class, there is not much more to be desired.
I started the day in Funäsdalsberget and was almost alone in the system for the first hour. Cautiously, it filled up with people during the morning, but overall it was gratefully sparse with people on the slope and in the lift queue. The gondola takes you up quickly and in the "Gamla backen" you could have many rides with a real suction in the legs in lovely curves. If you go to the other outer edge of the system, there are steeper, but slightly shorter black slopes and also a park.
After lunch I made my way to Ramundberget. Without knowledge of the area, I chose the first best parking and ended up in "Osthang", not against me as the rumor of this part of Ramundberget had already piqued my interest (https://www.freeride.se/osthang-i-ramundberget-sveriges- cleanest-store/).
The Osthang lift takes you up at a leisurely pace and once you're up you get a nice panoramic view of the Västra Härjedalsfjällen. From here you can reach 7 black slopes. In other words, I don't get to see much more of the ski area as the afternoon is largely spent exploring these slopes. Possibly it would have been an advantage to reduce the number of slopes a little and instead widen one of the slopes according to the motto less is more. It disrupts the otherwise excellent ride when, sometimes somewhat unnaturally sharp, you connect to or cross blue and green slopes that require adaptation of speed and ride. If you stick to the outermost (most southern) slopes, you avoid these problems. And here it is steep.
This is also where there seems to be some off-piste riding. If you can handle the slopes, there is very exciting forest skiing. In the early afternoon, a guide group arrives from beyond the system, presumably they have gone on the "Fäbodåket". I realize that there is much left to discover in Ramundberget.
If you ride only one day, you will have many nice rides in the Funäsdalsberget with perfect, steep pistes. The fact that there is basically a gondola from the village school is cool and gives, apart from envy, a lovely atmosphere in the area. For a week, you may wish for a larger ski area, but the lift pass covers far more resorts, in close proximity, and you will have no problem finding new skiing. Among other things, you have access to the relatively newly opened top tour area Hamra syd. Ramundberget at the end of the road, especially with the atmosphere in Osthang, I want to explore far more than one afternoon.

A place with everything for the little person as well as the big one.
Mountains with magnificent views, good food, fantastic cross-country and downhill skiing. Snowmobiling beyond what you could wish for.

Simply the best ski resort in Sweden for both alpine and cross-country skiing.

To understand Funäs, one must understand that the different mountains are completely different.

Funäsdalsberget (4/5):
Small but tough place. Not suitable for beginners (mostly red). Incredibly well-groomed and wide slopes without lift queues anywhere. Unfortunately, there is heavy snow all the way down, so expect to hurt yourself properly if you fall. The gondola is comfortable and the chairlift on the other side is relatively fast. The bus goes to both Tännalen and Ramundberget (must drop off here and change if you are going from one side to the other). Pretty far down if you move right.

Tänndalen (5/5)
An adventure. Incredibly many lifts and slopes that wind around each other. Can spend a whole day here just to find all the way down. Superb lunch spot, fast lifts, many signs and maps, and well-groomed slopes. A bit mixed between hard snow and powder here and there. Some parts of the top are rock hard so you have to take a few turns back and forth to find the best places. Perfect for children considering all the fun green slopes in the middle. Will stay here next time, mostly because I never want to see Ramundberget again. Definitely the best logistics and planning in Funäs.

Ramundberget (1/5)
Windy as hell (no exaggeration). Expensive lunch. All chairlifts are out of order for the most part due to blown. Lots of ice on top. Half the mountain is closed when it blows (becomes smaller than Funäsdalsberget). A lot of people. Fantastic powder, difficult slopes. Will never go again.

There is a reason why the Funäs mountains have received 4.8 out of 5 stars. It is Sweden's best ski system. Easy. There is something for everyone. From large alpine-like ski systems, well-groomed slopes, Sweden's best cross-country trails, fantastic park in Funäs, incredible off-piste in most systems - both easy to find and more untouched and steep, incredible summit opportunities, nice atmosphere everywhere, lots of people or no people and a fantastic village in the middle. the system. In addition, fantastically beautiful in all seasons.

The pandemic made us choose Funäsfjällen this year to try something new after 9 years in Vemdalen and most recently a couple of years in the Alps. As for accommodation, we only have experience from Funäsdalens Fjällhotell. Cozy hotel with a mountain feel and a nice restaurant with good food. The location is very good in the village, only 100 meters from the Gondola that goes up to the top of Funäsdalsberget. However, that ski area felt quite small compared to the areas in Vemdalen, it was just a ski day there. The rest of the time we spent in Tänndalen and Ramundberget, two facilities that surprised positively with great opportunities for varied riding. Have always thought that Tänndalen looked a bit dull on the map with a lot of slopes in a row but the slopes there, especially the red ones, were really fun. A disadvantage is all trailer lifts (only a connectable express lift), skiing becomes so much more enjoyable if you have to sit down for a few minutes between rides. In both Tänndalen and Ramundberget, the lifts often go all the way up to the tops of the mountains and it gives a wonderful feeling to start the ride on bare mountains and go through the tree line down to the valley.
