Nalovardo

Just over a mile north of Sorsele in central Lapland, wedged between the valleys of the Lais River and the Vindel River, you will find Nalovardo or "Nalo" in all its mountain splendor. The low mountain, once created of bedrock, is surrounded by marshes and old spruce forest — all in all a 4900 hectare nature reserve.

The highest peak (762 m) rises above the tree line, and on a clear day you can see "seven church parishes" (according to their own statement) and over to Norway. Since the ski resort is located on the southern slope of the mountain, it comes into its own in late winter.

The proximity to both the mountains and the coast makes Nalo a prime candidate for weekend skiing. In the beginning of the 60's the top cabin was built and -66 the first lift was built. With a vertical drop of 314 metres, a longest piste of 2,100 metres and 14 slopes, the resort is popular among speed skiers. When the snow conditions allow, there is also something to bite into for the off-piste skier. The very little ones have their own slope and lift.
