Great place for me and my two kids of 5 and 9 years who just learned to ski.
Nice staff, nice slopes despite plus degrees mixed with bright sun one day, and rain the other.

MY EXPERIENCE: Serious shortcomings in Säfsen ski school (Group "Swingers") ⚠️
I would like to share our family's personal experience with the ski school in Säfsen. According to the course description for the "Swingers" group, the focus should be on safety on blue slopes. Despite this, the instructor took the children to steep red and black slopes that they were not at all ready for.
The result: unnecessary falls and children who after this experience became afraid of skiing.
Management response:
The company has publicly responded that the incident is "far from the safety and pedagogy" they strive for (see attached image). At the same time, my direct messages have been left unanswered for days despite being read (see image with timestamp). To internally call the situation a "challenge" when it comes to the safety of children is unacceptable to me.
My action:
After consultation with Hallå Konsument, I have now proceeded with an official complaint to the General Complaints Board (ARN). SLAO has also been informed of the incident.
Worth noting about filtering:
I have documented that factual criticism is hidden or filtered out. To get a more accurate picture of what customers actually think, I recommend changing the setting under posts from "Most relevant" to "All comments". Otherwise, the polished image that the company chooses to highlight will be shown first.

Sweden's worst facility when it comes to cross-country skiing

My partner and I have a cottage nearby and we decided to try skiing in Säfsen alpine. My partner likes blue and red slopes while I prefer red and black with slightly easier off-piste runs.

By looking at the piste map, it was understood that it was mostly blue and green slopes that applied here. Expectations were for a less developed version of Romme Alpin with a greater focus on easier skiing.

The mountain would have benefited from a few more red slopes and a slightly higher drop. However, we found that both the blue and green slopes delivered above expectations. The slopes contain many narrow and winding wooded sections that offer a sense of speed and variety. In addition, there are many smaller bumps, jumps and other park-like elements scattered throughout the slopes. We felt that the easy slopes offered significantly better speed and variation compared to the equivalent in, for example, Romme Alpin.

The restaurant feels like a semi-boring lunch room and would have benefited from more atmosphere, detail and rustic feel. However, we do not agree that the food is expensive, 150 SEK for a large lunch portion is better than what you can expect at most Swedish ski resorts, even if the lunch is of the simpler kind.

Another advantage of skiing is plenty of space and plenty of room to maneuver on the slopes. We went on a Saturday in late January/early February with perfect weather and experienced no crowding on the slopes.

For us, the big minus for the resort is the lift system. First of all, the only chairlift is a four-chair lift that runs incredibly slowly. Going up a 180 m high mountain with a four-chair lift should be fast, but the lift is much slower than the anchor lifts and the trip up takes about 10 minutes if not more.

All lifts, and especially the anchor lifts, have a tendency to stop all the time, partly due to outdated equipment but also due to many inexperienced skiers and staff who are not always on hand to help. At one point, the anchor lift stopped 4 times and must have been stationary for a total of 15 minutes. Much of the capacity that does exist is lost as people strategically choose to ride two by two in the four-seater lift and no staff to keep track of the inexperienced skiers or streamline the placement in the lift queue is in place. Consequently, queues form even though there are not many riders on the slopes.

The problems with the lift system make it difficult for me to give a higher rating than two stars. When improvements are made, for example through the purchase of a modern 5-6 chairlift, I am happy to upgrade the rating to a strong three. The slopes deliver according to the conditions of the ski resort outside the mountains, but a few more red or black would have done the trick

How the hell can you sell a lift pass (day pass) and then close the lift 30min later and not pay back the money. Really bad and the last time we go there. You pay back the money to some people and then you write that that person has made mistakes. In addition, they first write that you must have an original receipt because their accountant and the tax office require it and refer to money laundering (see below)

Hi Stefan!
Unfortunately, we need the original receipt to be able to make a repurchase. This is both a requirement from the Tax Agency and from our auditors. The basic reason is to prevent money laundering and that the Accounting Act does not allow repurchases that cannot be linked to a specific receipt number.

Our officials have now reviewed your request.
First, we regret that one of our employees mistakenly made a payment without a receipt and led you to believe that this is part of our policy. It is not and we are raising this internally.
As I wrote early in our email conversation, we offered you a refund if it was for a half-day afternoon pass. The picture you sent is for a full day pass which we do not offer refunds for, as the lifts were open 09:00 - 14:00.

I regret again that we had to limit the opening hours on December 27 due to the weather conditions.

I hope you can find the receipt.

Well, maybe you should think twice if you were planning to go there. We will never go there again and hope it applies to many more people / customers.

Bad start for beginners as there are hardly any green slopes. Even the easiest slopes are way too steep. The chairlifts feel very unstable. You spend more time in the lift than on the slope because the slopes are short and the lift goes up slowly. Have no idea what it's like in other places but compared to Romme Alpin, they have edges at the slopes so you can't go down into the ditch. At Säfsen, they have nothing that can save you if you should crash into the ditch. The food in the warming hut is also not recommended. Not hot enough and the burger had no accessories except alternatively ketchup. Everything is unnecessarily expensive for that place.

Very nice and good place for the family with children! We were there during the sports holiday week 7. Nice slopes, nice staff, good ski instructors, mostly good food, good prices, nice cabin, clean toilets and just enough people. Of course there are details to be fine-tuned, but in essence it was great. I don't understand the negative reviews on this site at all (with the exception of the cross-country skiing, which I have no experience of). Obviously Säfsen is a smaller place and best suited to children and beginners - but for that target group it is really good! (The chairlift could be faster, it's really slow, but you can't have everything in this world).

There is something for both beginners and more experienced skiers! If you are a park jibber, Säfsen is not the best option as they have removed the public park. However, there are features scattered all around the mountain as well as a small rail park suitable for both experienced and beginners. Säfsen is therefore a perfect place for you who want to improve or learn to ski. If you want to ride in the forest, it is perfect if you want a challenge as the forest is very dense.
