Ski Amadé

Ski Amadé isn’t a single ski resort, but one of Austria’s largest shared lift-pass networks. It covers five regions in Salzburg and Styria: Salzburger Sportwelt, Schladming-Dachstein, Gastein, Hochkönig, and Grossarltal. Together, it offers up to about 472 miles of slopes and around 260 to 270 lifts on the same lift pass.

Ski Amadé is more of a common lift pass for multiple ski regions than one continuous ski area. You can’t ski between all parts; instead, you choose a valley and area based on the type of skiing you want. Schladming-Dachstein offers more athletic on-piste skiing and classic World Cup runs, Gastein delivers more vertical drop and a more alpine feel, Hochkönig has long circuits and views, while Salzburger Sportwelt includes several well-known towns like Flachau, Wagrain, and Zauchensee.

The trail selection is strong for intermediate skiers, with plenty of green and blue terrain, but also black runs and more demanding sections for those who want a bigger challenge. For off-piste skiers, there are interesting options especially in areas like Zauchensee, Sportgastein, and parts of the Dachstein region, but Ski Amadé is primarily an on-piste and lift-pass system—not a dedicated freeride destination.

Ski Amadé is best for anyone who wants lots of choices on the same trip: large ski areas, different villages, solid lift infrastructure, extensive snowmaking, and the ability to switch ski areas depending on weather, your group, and how you’re feeling that day. The strength isn’t that everything is connected, but that one lift pass unlocks many different styles of Austrian skiing.
