Tahoe Donner

Tahoe Donner Downhill Ski Resort is located just outside of Truckee, approximately 5 miles from Donner Lake and less than 19.9 miles from Lake Tahoe. This is a family resort that profiles itself as one of the area's best places for beginners – with wide, gentle slopes, good piste and often less crowds than the big Tahoe Mountains.

The ski system is just the right size but well thought out, with 17 slopes and about 49 hectares of skiable area. The lifts consist of a fast four-chair lift, a triple chair lift and several conveyor belts in the beginner and lesson areas, making it easy to wear laps without complicated transport. The skiing is mainly beginner and intermediate, with a couple of options to suit those who want to take the next step.

In the 2025/26 season, the resort also received a major boost with a brand new lodge, built to make logistics smoother with better flow, larger areas and easier access to the lifts – an upgrade that suits Tahoe Donner quite perfectly, as a lot of it is about skiing feeling uncomplicated and easy to get into.
