Valfjället

Ski resorts in Sweden
Valfjället is located in the municipality of Eda, close to Åmotfors and on the border with Norway, in the middle of the deepest forests of Värmland. This is where great holiday skiing meets alpine adrenaline rush. Närgårds to Oslo, eleven miles, means that many Norwegians come here. In addition, several alpine ski clubs from central Sweden train here. Certainly, this Värmland ski gem has alpine roots, not least because it is the alpine skier Matts Olsson's home region. Otherwise, the key word is ski-in, ski-out with cabins positioned in the lift system so that you can easily ski to and from the slopes. It has southern Sweden's highest vertical drop, although the skiing is perhaps especially suitable for families with overwhelmingly easy and intermediate slopes and few lift queues. For the very youngest, there is a treasure trove of caves, huts, snow mazes and secret passages. For the slightly older who want to practice jumps and tricks, there is both an airbag and a fun park. And finally, keep your eyes peeled for the area's national celebrities, white moose.
