Völkl Gotama (Page 6)

A little short impression from HitMe:

I have just tested Gotama a little, and only in Sälen. It was (as usual) a fair amount of hard pist but some also turn a little untouched. I drove 183. What I mainly compare with is Explosive 190 2002-2003.

First of all, I did not go far enough to assess any difference in flow to the Explosive. It felt right alike, though the explosion is a bit longer then. The shorter Gotaman might be a bit smoother and has a better flow if it's crowded and slowly goes on.

As far as the feeling of the ski is concerned, Gotama does not feel as fast as Explosive, which is an incredible skiing in this regard. The edge of Gotaman is good in the piste, but it is not the same brutal grip as at the Explosive. Clearly, Gotaman is just 1cm wider straight over compared to Explosive. They really feel broader in the elevator queue, but with a little bit of speed, I do not think it's a crucial difference when it comes to getting rid of the edge. Gotaman, by itself, has more twintip and the surface itself is clearly shorter than on a corresponding explosive. 183 Gotama is equivalent to 180 Explosive, approximately.

The conclusion is that for me, Explosiven is definitely a more allround ski and even more definitely a ski that gives me the special feeling of "I want to go fooooort" than Gotaman is. So I will not change my wizard's skis yet. Perhaps the 95mm waistcoat is a good allround width. On the other hand, it becomes really interesting to see what 2005-2006 Mantra will give me. It should apparently be based on the Explosive, but it is 9mm wider (the same waist and back section). If it has the same structure, it may be a hit.

Have bought a pair of Gotama 04/05.

Bought them from Germany at a very good price compared to Sweden.

i'm 180cm tall o went on the 183 ski. partly because I like shorter skiing and think the 183 ski will give me plenty of flow in loosnö oxo. The binding is mounted on the Völkl recommended site. It's a Marker free 14 binding.

Have not tried it yet, but going down to Austria over v.8 and forthcomingly I will be happy with my purchase!

will probably be a little surprise due to the massive width of the ski! but some provocations will probably work out!

gives the ski 3/5 at the moment, based on the ski design ...

returns with grades even after riding on it!

I usually compare with cars:

"type a hummer h1 with smiley-gubs, 40" tires and steering on the rear wheels. "

... easy-running, smooth, fast-paced bears that do not belong in the wardrobe. works well everywhere except in the elevator queue. is itself 180 o prefer 190

At last I have had some turns with my new bowl.
As usual, you will not be disappointed, a big ski that is extremely rap in the forest while walking as a train on the mountain. Beautiful flex and twist stiffness that gives the ski a lung and harmonious behavior which, in turn, causes you to lose some sense of speed. The skid also has a huge flow in pillows and to be so fat also really good qualities in the piste.
Sick cruel skiing so the question is how does it work?

Father take and review my review, sit down in Austria now and have sent my gotama away. The side of wood started cracking and I had cracks on half the skis.
I hope I have a pair of new ones, so that's what the fan is not. Hope others do not have the same worries, a little silly to get rid of the skies now when it starts to get some snow.

Bought a couple in May last year (2004/2005 model), unfortunately I have only tried them in Tandådalen / Hundfjället for a week, which is not perhaps its right environment.
Gotama 190cm with Marker 1400 Free binding. I myself weigh 93kg and is 183cm tall and like to go aggressively. The surface varied from hard ice piste to opisted piste, slashed, but the train raised the back. However, not deep fog that this ski is intended for. (all backgrounds on one and the same week !!)
It is surprisingly light-weighted, and the ice grip is well-liked (not like a pistachio, but it is expected). The skis turn very easily (despite its radius of 30m) and myself prefer shortcuts.
Despite my weight, and when I pull on the piste I see that it is not too soft.
In opistat, upset as well as in a hurry, it plunges out without any problems. It's not easy to get rid of it, but it's quite possible.

I am very pleased about the characteristics of the ski, although I am not an expert in the field (runs between 10-20 days a year), and strongly recommends it.
I can not give the top rating because I have not tested it in a sneak peek. (But the Riksgränsen is waiting for Easter and you long for)

Incredibly calm. Have just gone for it 5 days but does not regret the purchase. 180cm was maybe a little short for my 183cm but still a messy move in the offpiste. Swings well around trees oxo. In the piste they are of course a bargain, but at high speed they can make them carve, but who goes to Gotama? Another plus is that the coat seems to be hard because I have drove over some rocks and still have very small scratches.

However, a tougher skid is not quite wide. The skis had the highest rating if the measurements had been 130-100-120 and some turntables.

Have had these since 2april where I managed to get one of the first copies. Is really pleased with this ski.

Aside from 04, I think that 05 is somewhat more stable in hard ground plus that the new protective steel edge on the top side protects well from full hack that occurred at 04.

In addition, I can not help thinking that the design is nicer this year

No no no

Firstly, the skiing is not good in the prepared slope (piste).

The skis are weakly constructed so the toes and side walls fall off with a little cry. The sole loosens my skis and the side walls have big damage. My opinion is that the 04 version has a bit of poor quality.

Agree with Lillhenke that the centering is incorrect. Since the skis are so fat you do not have to place the tie there. I think this causes the skis to be foolish with driving.

When this is said, the skis flow better in powder than anything I have tried. The skis are a bit soft, but I think it means that the skis will be wicked and maneuverable in the woods without the big mountain character.

It's quite easy run, but I still think it's stable.
