Located just outside of Alexandria in central Minnesota, Andes Tower Hills Ski Area is a classic local ski slope with a distinct Midwestern character. The facility is small in area but well used and serves primarily as a regional hub for downhill skiing during the winter months.
The ski area offers a number of short but varied slopes with a focus on piste skiing. The drop height is limited, but the slope is enough to provide a good rhythm and allows for many runs in a short time. The slopes are regularly groomed and artificial snow is used to secure the season in a climate where natural snow can vary greatly.
An important part of the Andes Tower Hills is night skiing, where illuminated slopes make it possible to ski after the end of the working day. There are also easier park features during certain periods as well as areas suitable for training and beginner skiing, which makes the slope popular with local clubs and schools.
The Andes Tower Hills is not a destination resort, but rather an example of American community-driven skiing: accessible, functional, and built for regular skiing rather than grand mountain experiences.
