Detroit Mountain

Ski resorts in USA
Detroit Mountain is a classic ski resort in northern Minnesota with roots stretching back to the 1930s. Located just outside the city of Detroit Lakes, the resort is known as a regional hub for downhill skiing in an otherwise relatively flat landscape.
The ski area offers varied piste skiing with a clear focus on technical skiing in shorter but distinctive fall lines. There are both gentler slopes for basic skiing and steeper alternatives that are often used for training and competitions. Detroit Mountain has long been an important place for alpine club activities, which is evident in the way the slopes are designed and groomed.

Over the years, the facility has been modernized with efficient lifts and snow systems, but has retained its local and functional character. Detroit Mountain is not a destination in the classic sense, but rather a place where skiing is at the center and where many skiers return regularly for evening skiing, training and weekend sessions on the slopes.
