Hyland Hills Ski Area is an urban ski resort just south of Minneapolis, located in the Hyland Lake Park Reserve in Bloomington, just minutes from the Mall of America. The location makes Hyland one of Minnesota's most easily accessible ski slopes for night skiing, training and spontaneous skiing days.
The skiing is compact and clearly focused on small-scale piste skiing, with well-groomed slopes and a stable artificial snow system that provides even conditions for most of the season. Hyland is particularly known for its snow park, which has long had a good reputation for thoughtful design, regular rebuilding and features suitable for both park beginners and more experienced skiers.
The facility is an important training ground for both alpine and freestyle skiing in the region and is widely used by clubs, schools and local skiers. Off the alpine slopes, the park area offers illuminated cross-country trails, snowshoeing and a Nordic ski jumping complex, making Hyland a hub for winter sports rather than a traditional ski resort.
Hyland Hills is best suited for those who are looking for efficient skiing time, park skiing and structured training – not long slopes or destination tourism, but everyday skiing with a clear function.
