Appalachian Ski Mountain

Appalachian Ski Mountain is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina and is one of the state's most established ski resorts. The facility is relatively small in area but has a clear focus on well-prepared slopes, efficient operation and a long season thanks to extensive snow cannon systems.

The skiing is concentrated and easy to navigate, with several continuous slopes that take advantage of the mountain's natural fall line. The drop height is about 393.7 feet, which gives short but intense runs where the focus is on technique, carving and repetitive runs rather than long transports. The piste selection is dominated by green and blue slopes, supplemented by some steeper alternatives.

Appalachian Ski Mountain is especially known for its night skiing, with illuminated slopes several nights a week. This makes the facility popular with local skaters and students in the area, who often go after work or school. A terrain park is available and is clearly prioritized, with regular reconstruction during the season.
