Champagny en Vanoise is located on the sunny side of the Tarentaise Valley, right on the border of Vanoise National Park, and works as a quiet home base with quick access to big-time skiing. From the village, you take the Champagny gondola up to about 6,560 feet in around 10 minutes, where you step straight into the ski area and can continue on into La Plagne and the entire Paradiski domain if you want.
The overall vibe in Champagny feels more like a village than a high-rise resort, but the skiing you reach is anything but small once you’re up on the mountain. The top of the gondola also offers beautiful views toward the Vanoise massif, with Grande Casse among the highlights.

If you want to mix things up with cross-country skiing, Champagny le Haut is a real bonus. There are 14 miles of groomed trails suitable for both classic and skate, and the setting feels more like a Nordic valley than a typical Alpine system.
