Ekholmsnäsbacken

Ski resorts in Sweden
On Lidingö we find Ekholmsnäsbacken, which is home to both Lidingö Slalom Club and Lidingö Freeskiers. The slope is largely artificial, and in recent years has undergone a major upgrade with a state-of-the-art snow system. This enables covering the slope with artificial snow even under the most challenging weather conditions. Ekholmsnäsbacken offers three blue slopes and the possibility to rent equipment directly at the slope.
The slope at Ekholmsnäs began to be constructed already in the 1960s, and during the 1980s it flourished as a popular outdoor area for skiing enthusiasts in Stockholm. Since that time, the hill has hosted many classic competitions and events. A memorable moment includes the parallel slalom in 1982, where Ingemar Stenmark, to everyone's horror, broke his leg.
