Gålå

Gålå is located in the mountain region above Gudbrandsdalen, north of Lillehammer. It’s a smaller, family-oriented ski resort with skiing on Blåbærfjell and Valsfjell. The elevation ranges from 2,526 to 3,675 feet above sea level, and on Valsfjell you get up to 1,115 feet of skiable vertical drop. This is also where you’ll find the black run for those who want more of a challenge.

Blåbærfjell focuses on easy to intermediate groomed skiing, with both gentler options and red runs. There’s also a snowpark as a complement to the slopes. The Knerten area is designed for first turns, with a short lift, a magic carpet, and a lit beginner slope. This layout makes Gålå a sensible choice for groups where some are still learning while others want something a bit steeper.

There are off-piste options, but Gålå’s main strength is groomed skiing rather than a large freeride offering. Cross-country skiing is also an important part of the area’s character, making it appealing for anyone who wants to switch between alpine skiing and touring on Nordic skis. Gålå is best suited for families and intermediate skiers who prefer a smaller ski area over miles of runs and big vertical.
