Whiteface Mountain Resort

Ski resorts in USA
Whiteface is located on Lake Placid in the Adirondacks and is one of the most "real" mountains on the east coast. With a vertical drop of about 1,147.6 feet, it's the largest in the eastern United States, which is immediately noticeable in the skiing: long, continuous descents and a more alpine steep feel than many other East Coast mountains.
The ski system consists of around 90+ slopes over three peaks, and the lifts are of a good level with a total of 11 lifts. The longest run is just over 2.1 miles, which is unusually long for the region and means that you actually get "real length" in the runs when you find the right lines.

Whiteface is also known for its more demanding side. For those who like steep and natural terrain, there is The Slides, an area that is often cited as Whiteface's most serious skiing - but it's not something you just happen to end up in. In terms of snow, it is backed up by almost full snow production, so the surface is often kept stable even when the winter is messy.
